This is actually a very good point and probably the cause of everything rotten on MB at the moment. Sure gradually over a period of time certain long term members (mentioning no names) have pushed their limits and there is certainly a semblance of a gang mentality amongst them in some cases, I've noticed certain people backing up others or turning a blind eye in certain situations, it's nothing serious but it's there. Once again I fall back on my original idea of stronger moderation, because only the mods have the power to install a level of control here. I mean when a long term member goes bad, there's really no excuse for it, they're hardly newbies that need reminding of how to behave

Finally I kind of praise Trollheart's post above, reflecting that MB should actually be a place that people can come to and discuss stuff without too much hassle....... who needs hassle on an internet forum when life's full of it anyway!

The mods have been mods too long. Time for new mods.

:P

I think the whole notion that we ought to keep the leadership we got because so & so could become a mod is a bit weird. The general point is that the the leadership has been the leadership for so long it's ossified.

Call me a pessimist, but this kumbaya, "let's have all the members change and get that tiger to trade in his stripes for some spots, too!" nonsense won't work, and even if it did the difference it would effect would be minimized if we had the same ole' mods.

So let's try changing the mods.

Do you mean all the mods or just some of them? Personally I would be more in favour of piecemeal change than any radical overhaul. I think the mods by and large do a good job and like anybody doing this they're not infallible to mistakes, but sure a drop of new blood would be a vital injection into the moderation team.

You do realize that Urban is really the only mod that has been a mod for any great length of time.

BD, Duga, FD, janz, Pete, Satch, and Vanilla have all only been modding a pretty short time. This forum often replaces mods, as they are always retiring or moving on. I mean 1 year ago today we had a completely different mod team.

I'm sure most of those have been mods for longer than that. I know that Janz, Pete, Satch and Duga have.
