Guys.
Stop. Feeding. the troll. When it comes out that this account was an elaborate scheme by some pissy member to get your goat, and you've got egg on your face, I'm definitely going to say "I told you so" loudly, constantly, and I'm going to put it in my signature. I mean, who hangs around this long, with no avatar, racks up that many posts, yet only complains. A proxy account to prevent a main-account banning. Wake up. |

I agree with this for the most part, esp. as pertains to this thread, but I'm duty bound to point out that sopsych does have numerous music topic posts. He complains too much, and clearly has an agenda, but it isn't *all* he's posted. That said, I believe he's part of the problem rather than the solution. |
You know, on second thought, I agree with Paul. Let's make him a Mod.

Then why defend him?

Not defending him, just pointing out that, looking at his posting history, it's not 100% complaints. I agree that he's being a dick. |
It would be better and smarter to just agree with me. If enough people did that, the site could undergo positive change. That I'd much prefer over complaining.

As others have pointed out, there is very little the mods and Yac (who also doesn't make final decisions on site implementations) can do to improve the technical aspects of our environment here. The idea that new mods should be brought in to achieve what the old ones haven't is an assumption based on ignorance. The owners of the site are not refusing requests based on who the mods are, nor is Yac refusing to facilitate communication of such requests to the owners.
If this stuff is about getting people in place that would be able to get things done, then that's a discussion about removing the current owners, which obviously won't happen. Tore is attempting to circumvent the roadblock by becoming the owner of another site, to which this community can have the type of support it wants. Having him as the "head mod" here to achieve that is pointless, since he would be operating under the same constraints as the other mods. But, since most folks (at least currently) probably don't want to uproot and still want to stay here, the ONLY relevant option at this time is for all members to get involved in changing the things they can, not complaining about the things they can't. So, if people really are wanting this place to change for the better, then they should be out there making it happen and doing what they can. It's the only way anything is going to get done that is realistic in terms of our limitations here. |

One-liners don't belong in this thread.
Okay, if Yac isn't the main man on technical decisions, who is, the corporate owners? Lessen our "ignorance." But as for new moderators, the idea isn't special negotiating powers on their part - technically, this site isn't bad, in my opinion. New moderators are for willingness to more strongly enforce rules against nastiness. A wide range of people in this thread have requested that policy change, but at least one moderator since seems to have more or less dismissed it and I suspect a few of them are the reason for the long status quo on that. |
