Did anyone see my idea earlier. I think it would be an awesome way to get new things started if mods had periodical new threads starting convos about music.

It's a new era.

Alright give me a little bit then, I want to make the thread presentable and easy to follow.

Don't they now?

Why mods specifically? I'm not saying I'm opposed to the idea or anything, just curious about the reasoning.

If you read her post she explained why mods. Mods are more favored and respected to somr degree so you will get more posts in your threads than regular members but she also called for non mod members to step up to the plate as well.

This isn't aimed at anyone but I would just like it known that I've seen no journal posts to approve the whole time this thread has been around. And I'm not talking about the people who write them.
:)

i will step up my game now that today i got new internet and try to make my journal the best it can be and also keep contributing to the snog thread which is indeed in the lounge but still a crucial morale boosting type thread. thats all i have to add and also i see much bonding here tonight i feel like progress was made for a better tomorrow and future.

LOL sorry I am not criticising your post in any way 216 but the irony in the play between your post and your sig is just beautiful.

Edit: Hey looky there, I just clicked over to 1k.

I meant for them to make a point of making new music-related threads periodically so as to invite discussion.

I just think that if someone sees you started a thread, they may be more likely to read it, that's all. Also, you're a mod, so you'll know better what's not talked about, what's talked about too much, and what's missing, I suppose.

Thanks! Yeah if you read what I posted (or I can go back and just quote it) I basically just used mods as an example to get things going! It just so happens that my posts keep ending up the last or close to last on the page, so I'm not sure if many people see them. Here what I write:

Quote:

I think every week or every first week of the month or something, each mod (at least) should make a thread that starts a discussion about MUSIC.
And that contributing members should try this as well. And try to post more in the music threads and such.
People respect and love the mods, and you guys would probably get a lot of activity in your threads on music.

This forum needs help. Badly.

Every new member that has something to contribute eventually stops showing up. There is nothing but drama. Some people like this...but I (along with many others) am not a dramatic person. I want to talk about music. Sure, I can go to the latest hipster blogs and find out what they think is good...but I came here because this site took things deeper. There were members here with a deep knowledge of music matched only by their passion for it. I would find 2 or 3 memorable albums I had never even heard of every time I logged on...minimum. Most of those members are gone.

The holdouts like myself and most of mod team along with those rare new members that for some reason are still around are stuck here wondering what to do. Wondering why this happened. This forum has turned into nothing but a drama filled cliquey bitchfest and frankly, it disgusts me. If I had just joined, I would have just left like all the other new members that take one look and turn the other way. But I'm invested. I remember how much I used to enjoy coming here. I would like to think there is something we can do.

This forum works best when there are equal parts members with a DEEP knowledge of whatever music they like best and inexperienced members ready to drink it up. The drama was there, sure, but drama fueled by passion for music is something I can tolerate. That dynamic is completely lost. This isn't just another cry for "waaah...this forum sucks now"...it has truly hit rock bottom. If the cliques continue NO ONE will want to join. So my question is...

How do we fix this? How do we attract those quality members without scaring them away?

And how do we get people who just like to stir **** up to shut the **** up?

I have a hint to improve the forum... stop bashing people who choose to have a religion. There are a few members here who open about being religious or belonging to a religion and I hate to think they would be hurt by a post that goes along the line like "oh religious people can't think for themselves...blah blah blah... science."
