Where I grew up there were loads of them, though we called them rotaries not roundabouts.

New Jersey has something just as odd, jug handles, how can you not loose your sense of direction going around those things is beyond me.

I don't know, I use them all the time when I'm Jersey. I don't find them confusing at all.

So when you want to take a simple left right angle turn but instead you have transverse a circle going clockwise - that doesn't throw you off?

Nope. And the circle is counterclockwise, not clockwise.

Yeah you're right when I said counterclockwise I was thinking about going around a clover leaf. But then I looked it up, this is what I mean...

And the loss of sense of direction makes sense now. It might be a bit unnerving going at one of those things clockwise. Especially with people honking angrily and screaming at you.
