Them: "I have cool shoutbox commands!..." Me: "Oh, I'm interested, what are they?" Them": "/prune" Me: Ok. *tries it, deletes entire shoutbox* Me: "Oops..." In my own defense, I had no idea the command was going to actually work, nor did I get any description of what it was about. This was during a time where people were discovering different commands that allowed you to do different things in the shoutbox, so there was generally a spirit of adventure, not sabotage. Either way, it happened, and I don't give a sh*t that it did. |
^ Well, six years of shoutbox is more than anyone really needs, I should think !
I think Trollheart would make a good mod; he`s here a lot and would be very conscientious I`m sure. I suspect that a lot of mod work is invisible to ordinary members like me, but Jackhammer and tore were both noticably great mods because they were fair, approachable, and regular contributors too. Don`t know if either of them could be tempted back ... Quote:

When are you lot going to grow some balls and nominate yourselves instead of other people.
One proper nomination so far is f*cking pathetic especially as some of you can't wait to point out when mods make a mistake. |
I wouldn't mind being a mod but I'm not putting myself forward for it as I'm not willing to write a paragraph on why I should be mod. I don't have any real reason except deleting spam and keeping up other responsibilities would give me something to do when I'm not posting. You all know me well enough without me writing a bunch of stuff, selling myself which we all know probably isn't true. Plus it feels interview like doing it. And I don't beg ;)
On a completely related note: why is there a euro in your username? |

I still nominate me. My connection has been good lately.

Vote Bloozcrooz and vote for change. I'm Bloozcrooz and I approve this message. |
As moderator, I will eliminate wasteful posting, and fight for the rights of members with under 1,000 posts.

Fuck it. I officially nominate myself, Engine, for moderator 2013. Here's why:
I apparently love this forum. I don't think that I've gone more than two days without examining it closely for the last few years, even when I decide not to log in. I'm not even that loyal to my own fucking Facebook account, and even less so to my friends and family. I'm not a sociopath, I'm just very choosy about the company that I keep. And unlike those other things, I understand MB and I can help. I'll approve all of your journal entries promptly no matter how boring or stale they are. I'll ban spammers relentlessly and, with impunity, I'll ban assholes and idiots as quickly as Floridians shoot citizens who threaten them. Like a medical doctor with integrity, I'll walk through crowds of angry protestors on my way into the Planned Parenthood clinic to abort unwanted children while smirking at their posters of dead fetuses. I'll point out which of the depicted were my own work as far as I can recognize. This is how I shall moderate. Internet access surrounds me and I don't ever need to use a goddamn phone to check in. I won't necessarily make this place better as a moderator but I probably will. |
I'd like to re-nominate myself.
If I get re-modded, I will post more about music, stop disappearing for lengths of time without so much as a notification to the other mods, and I will start contributing to the infrastructure of this forum like I used to when I was first modded. I will also pledge to check the approval queue more often, and limit posting my drunken rages. I will do what I can in order to improve the forums, versus improving my own image as the new-old-current mod. Please vote for me. |

Well I just read this entire thread and I think that Engine/Blooz/Goofle/Fetcher/Trollheart would all make fine choices.
On a side note I feel like Trollheart puts more work into creating quality threads (maybe beside Tore) than anyone in this sites history. Also his grammar and punctuation are magnificent. ps: Why anyone is voting Jackhammer I dont know. If he wanted to mod he would not have stepped down. I wish big 3 would mod again as well :( Step 1: Strip Freebase of his modship Step 2:naturally he will start drinking heavily so remod immediately. Step 3: Profit |
I say we pick the next newb who makes an intro thread and tell him that he/she is now a mod just to confuse them.

2. I nominated myself and still didn't make your "fin choice" list. 3. I could occasionally PM you and tell you to clean up your act if you'd like. |
I'll put my name in just because I lurk around here all the time and might as well be doing something helpful.

I don't mean to be a bastard about something that's basically none of my business.
But since I have joined Lee you have been modded 3 or maybe even 4 times, I'd just like to see someone new on the mod team this time, for the simple fact it will be a new interesting experience for most people who want this, it'll be trial and error for some time which isnt a bad thing and I'd really like to see some experimentation around here to liven the place up. I think you make an excellent, great mod Lee and you're very friendly and easy to talk to which are especially good qualitys to have, I just feel this time round it should be given to someone 'new'. I only say this because I've been disheartened on a few boards because they used this method (ex-mods got 1st choice). I hope this hasn't been taken the wrong way because its the last thing I want to do :). |
You don't really need to be a mod to liven things up.. A mod just basically has to take responsibility for the forum and keep it well maintained. I don't really see why it's such a contest. It's about choosing the most capable.
Modding isn't meant to be fun. On a very active forum it can be hard work. You have to be able to stand your ground, be approachable, be willing to take complaints and problem solve. It's not hard to pick up but, and it can be a very rewarding feeling especially if you care about the place. Jackhammer I think you're a good choice. So is Big3, IMO. |
I never said he wasn't a good choice, he's an excellent choice. I just said it would be nice to let someone else get the opportunity considering Lee has had it many times. It may not be the mods job to have fun and bring new ideas to the place but a mod should be obliged to do these things when it needs to be. Why do you think pedestrian gets such a good name? Because she goes over the mod responsibilities and puts pretty much everything she has in to the board. In my opinion why wouldn't a forum want that? Why would a forum want a stale robotic mod who just deletes spam?
|
I'm not saying they have to turn into robotic members. They're still members of this community who contribute and have personalities. Mods can bring new ideas to the forums just as well as a general member could. I'm only detailing what's expected from a moderating job (in my experience). That's all.
