Create a Music Subsection
 

Hey guys, I was thinking we could talk to the Admin and ask for a Music Subsection to the lounge. As I was reading the OP to the AIDS & HIV Thread and I thought "What if we could have these indepth dicussions about music?"

I don't know, personally I think its a good idea - everyone likes music and it might be pretty cool if we could share our interests and discover what other people are listening to, maybe find a couple new artists out there.

I was watching an old video called "one-armed scissor" today by a group called "At the drive-in." Anyone else a fan?

I don't really like much music. I think it's a stupid idea.

This is clearly a forum about creepy fetishes, drugs and debates about Christianity. We'll have no music here.

Well, your original post implies that the lounge seems to be the most active section on this forum. So, since it appears that nobody posts in the music forums any more and you miss those discussions, you want people to be able to have inane discussions about the music that they like to listen to. Apparently everybody here is a lounge lizard, so you just thought "Hey, I'd still like to talk about music but it will have to be done where everyone hangs out - the lounge. So why not request a music subsection for the lounge forum." Or something like that.

Here's the funny thing, though - this is a MUSIC FORUM, where people are encouraged to discuss specific genres and sub-genres of music, and where the lounge is just a dumping ground for off topic conversation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's where I get the notion that this thread is just a sarcastic remark.

If anybody has a problem with the amount of music related discussion, they can start some of their own. They can join a pre-existing discussion, create a new one, or even just join a club. There are lots of people here working hard to provide threads, clubs, and events related to music to keep things interesting. If you've got a better idea, don't hold it back.

I'm not going to speak for anybody else, but as someone who both creates threads and participates in others regularly, this thread just seems like nitpickery. A lot of work has been done by a lot of people to increase the activity in the music discussion boards in the last year, and it seems like you're choosing a pretty bountiful time to complain about a drought.

Some people also don't have the time to involve themselves in a virtual world as much as they'd like, which is why the boards do suffer from time to time. Everything has been done on here which is why I never open threads (I try to participate in others) because the forum has been running for so long everything's already there. I don't blame the people who don't want to delve into 5 and 6 year old threads but MB has been changing for the better the past good while which is why I do try and involve myself more but it's easier said than done to participate in things for some. There's nothing really here for people who can only spend a little hour on MB, if wasn't for me being jobless and having so much time to post I'd be able to do ****all because the Electronica forum is dead and there's nothing either one of us can do to help that, except force members in.

Well I don't know what to say. I've apparently offended some folks. If that's the case, my apologies. I didn't realize anyone would take this thread that hard. I saw a post that seemed so outrageous in its topic here that I said "you know something, rather than screw up that thread I'll go make some tongue-in-cheek thread that will likely get ignored."

I'm not pretending or denying anything here. I was simply trying to curb any beef that may have developed between you and I, but I see you won't have it that way.

I didn't mean to come off like a humourless tightass; I do realize this thread is in teasing, but it's mildly depressing to see a lot of hard work get satirized. I'm not sure the hard workers were intended to be the butt of the joke here, but it's still at their expense, you know?

No hard feelings, I just didn't see what this was gaining.
