I think moderators approving a member's access to a separate forum would create a little bit of favouritism, no?
Also, I think having a small fee to join the site would deter spam and advertising. Although I would gladly pay a small fee to the site, if it costs more to become a "premium" member, screw that. I don't have a whole lot of money as it is. This may also deter new members from joining and/or sticking around the site. As well, I have never, ever been a member of a forum that had a fee system. |

Just because the moderators approve it doesn't mean they necessarily have sole control of it.
