But whenever he does come back, he basically has no chance of staying here. He is going to be under such a microscope and any little thing he does is gonna be overblown and bans are gonna be called for immediately. I don't know why he would even bother coming back honestly but that's obviously his choice. He's gonna basically have to morph into s_k and be super smiley to survive more than a few weeks once he's back which I doubt is gonna happen.

I voted to have him back. Cause I take this forum far less seriously than pretty much everyone. And I don't care if he says controversial things or starts discussions that turn into arguments. It's the internet and I don't get riled up over stuff like that. And unlike myself he seemed to actually be a pretty huge contributor to some music sections. As for the mods, I doubt it would cause them much trouble to have boo boo back. Delete a few posts, oh my! But it's pretty clear they don't want him back anyways. A one year ban is stupid in my opinion anyways, and excessive,

Unless you're trying to start a mod sh**storm, I'd stop right there.

You can say that all you like but the fact of the matter is MusicBanter is a great forum because the moderation staff and many of the members hold a position counter to yours. Sure, it's just the internet - but it's also a very nice part of the internet. One that isn't overrun with crap and BS. If we laxed up and chalked everything up to, "It's just the internet", MusicBanter wouldn't be MusicBanter.

but I wasn't around for all off boo boos shenanigans so maybe it's more deserved than i think.
This is just about the only part of you post that is accurate.

That's because the mods have inside information that the regular members don't have. It's always like this. I'm a mod myself. I've banned people (I only do permanent bans) who really really ****ed up. As in threatening members via the telephone, theft and so on. You still hear, every ****ing time, that you shouldn't have banned them.
Regular members most of the time just don't know the entire story because they never had problems with the banned person.

Exactly. Most members don't see anything that offenders do wrong, because the mods are all over it and it's gone and dealt with before the vast majority can see it. Then when the offender finally pushes it too far and they get banned, it's because the "mods overeacted".

I can't even believe we are still discussing this. Not even Captain Caveman got as many chances from the mods here as Boo did to just stop offending people and pissing people off.

Not trying to start anything. I don't think boo boo would be nearly as big of a headache as some might perceive. It's not even really just about him, it could be any member. They do stuff that's over the line like photoshop a clip art hot dog, then delete their posts. Ban them. Whatever. It's a few extra keystrokes. I just don't see it as this huge thing where the mods would have to do this unbelievable amount of work.

Chalking spamming and stuff to "its just the internet" is not a good idea. As far as arguing or having extreme or controversial opinions, I couldn't really care less. I know mods don't share those thoughts and I don't care. That's just my opinion of internet discussion, arguing, whatever.

Can I ask why you allowed hip hop bunny hop to stick around after the thread he posted on skrewdriver? Kind of seems ridiculious.

His actions would not be blown out of proportion. He really does create his own downfall.

Boo boo banned about 50% of the member list when he was a mod here, leaving everyone else to have to undertake the task of righting his wrongs. It isn't just a case of having to "ban a few posts" of his, he can't help but self-destruct here, and thats why he should serve his year ban and be thankfull it was only a year. It very nearly wasn't.

Well I'll be interested to see how things plan out once he does return after his year ban. My opinion is that he'll be under an intense microscope and at the first sign of any controversy or slight argument, he'll be booted. I don't think he has much of a chance here, but we'll see. He's gonna have to kiss everyone ass and he doesn't seem like the type of guy willing to do that.

Without wanting to seem like a mod-wannabe, I'm pretty sure your answer is going to be roughly "The mod team takes action as it deems it appropriate at the time, however this thread is not an open invitation to suggest instituting new bans of current members. If a member is breaking the rules, use the report post button rather than bringing it up in public. Its more efficient and causes less problems."

There was a thread on the band already that was closed because it became a political flame war. That is what a mod said in the thread I am talking about. Again my question seems pretty fair considering writing up a thread and toasting a white power band while pressing your political views in a music thread and posting a pic that was gore (it was taking down) seems worse then anything boo boo could have done. Yet that member is still here.
