While it would be nice if we had some of the better functionality of more up-to-date forum protocol and layout, I don't think the core of this forum actually suffers from not having the extras, considering what that core is.

On the other hand, I don't think it's at all wrong for the community to want to improve the environment here. And I think that because the management are so far placed from the day to day workings here, the element that does suffer is our ability to create a living, breathing environment here that's tailored to what we, as members of the community, consider relevant and important. While the original notion of this forum may remain intact without the implementation of new ideas, it's never going to grow without them.
But like others have basically said, growth isn't the priority for the current owners. We're just hamsters in a wheel that keeps this site valuable for sale simply by being statistics. But upgrades or not, you gotta be proud of the fact that this community is as strong as it is regardless of its limitations.
If we never get fancy addons and upgrades, we still got somethin'.

I'm a forum junkie, as you might have picked up on, and once upon a time I was a member on a Political Website who's host started letting his political leanings get in the way of objective moderating. He went "Boo Boo" if you will, banning anyone who he thought was too liberal.

One day I logged in and I got a PM from a member that said "we've grown tired of the shenanigans we've moved to [new political website]."

Just a parable for your consideration, should our efforts get lost at sea...if you will.

Nope. There isn't a voting system for the admins to take action. But it's at least an additional statistic to add to a request to give it more weight, regardless of whether it would be successful or not.

I don't see the implementation of a front page hurting the site at all and I am currently all for change around here so thats a yes from me.

I think this sounds like a very useful idea. Also I agree with some about maybe a design scheme change of some sort.

Only 4 mods have voted so far.

It's a bloody disgrace!

I cant decide which would be better, I fear the other layout would cause a rift in how close members are.. if that's even possible.

I'm not sure what you mean by your comment.
Let me just ask what you're talking about before I use my pesky brain.

A new front page might be cool, but it has to be done right. I've seen some pretty fugly designs on these things before.
