A transcript of the discussion in the shoutbox between boo boo and GB blatantly revealed that boo boo is not planning on changing his ways and that our bans were not effective as deterrents. So now our ban is an actual solution.
Regarding whether boo boo was provoked or not, that issue will be dealt with separately, but it still doesn't change the facts.

I just have one, lame, gross n00b question for you guys.

Besides the written rules, are there any other reasons to ban people? If so, could you name a few?
I'm curious, because I'm afraid I'll an outburst on this site and get myself permabanned from a forum again.

You have had outbursts? You get along with everyone for the most part...I'm pretty sure that's all it really takes.

boo boo never did anything to me personally, but he has definitely been the source of a lot of controversy. It was noticeable since I started posting here. This had been a long time coming I think.

An isolated outburst isn't really something we ban for around here. A person might get an infraction for that, but not a permaban.
It's repeat offenders that demonstrate they're not willing to heed warnings and follow rules that get permabanned.
That, and spammers, obviously.

Then you should add bungalow to the list. He shouldn't even be here.

I used to be a part of some Techno forum, and I was quite mad that day, and people kept going on about how I actually liked post rock. Eventually they started attacking me on a personal level and.... bad things happened. I'll keep it short, because I said some terrible things about techno fans and how the term "Techno" is so meaningless now.

Also, here, I've gotten quite pissed at a few people. I think I had an outburst when I said that I didn't like metalheads, and everybody started getting mad at me, so I sort of.... had a freakout.

What exactly is this "evidence" you speak of, because I read through the entire transcript and actually found myself saying, "man, boo boo is being really cool and is dealing with being provoked really well, I think he's learned his lesson to a point."

So you're admitting that boo boo's ban was preliminary, and actually based on no direct offense, but instead a "feeling" that he might not follow the rules in the future. Unless you guys are Tom Cruise, and this in The Minority Report, I'm calling bull**** on this whole issue. It sure ****ing smells like it to me.
