It's be a hoot if we could write the entries for it.

They all come from Wikipedia, I've noticed. What the hell.

I thought it was my computer because I was too dumb to try and find another forum or something and see if the links were coming up there. It looks like it's because of either (intentional link) Google Penguin or Google Panda. Not too sure how all this works though, so my guess could be wrong.

LOL or maybe this explains Howard's disappearance. He spent so much time on here he's gone all Lawnmower Man!

Ok I have to ask. What's with the Knowledge Encyclopedia and can members contribute to it?

Of course it's another admin thing. This fucking Knowledge Encyclopedia is obviously sharing money with them.

Personally, I find it incredibly distracting at best. Morally egregious at worst. It used to be that when MB members posted links, those links were actually to something possibly interesting - at least they were of the posters' choice.

All of the ads here are a horrible (necessary ) evil. Also, I've hated the addition of Lyrics Meaning to the MB banner as long as its been there. Knowledge Encyclopedia is far more ugly and insulting. I don't know about anybody else but I don't want to contribute to some kind of advertising website posing as a discussion forum.

I'm not blind or idealistic, but maybe MB is becoming too big to be any good. The way its going, I may as well just use 'Yahoo! Answers' or some other shitty thing when I want to talk about music online.

This was implemented just yesterday and as it seems, not in the best way. Right now it has been changed so only unregistered guests can see these "in text ads" links to knowledge encyclopedia. If they are still being displayed, if you find any glitches and bugs, notify me directly.
I realize this isn't the best feature one could think of, to put it mildly, but this site has to make some revenue too. Hopefully we can fine tune it so the MB community won't have to suffer because of that.
Yac.

Thanks Yac!

But our text is still being used to advertise, we just can't see it if we're logged in?

Edit:
Just confirmed this to be true. Our posts are still being used to redirect visitors to that knowledge page, regardless of whether you came from Google or not.
The entire idea of that is sad, and I won't contribute to it. You can tell the admins that if they can't find another way to make money without modifying how my posts are presented, then I won't give them the opportunity.

Paedantic Basterd 11-22-2012 08:42 AM

Frankly, if I'd seen the site looking like that two years ago I wouldn't have joined, purely on suspicion of adware and such.

Is there a way to post SoundCloud clips? Am I doing it wrong?

Nope, no can do.

It would be nice if we could though, that's another suggestion to pass over to Admin that may get rejected.
