You were too fast with your reply! You missed the way I edited my post. Look again!

I like to be prompt. I can't believe how this thread has escalated. Quite funny really. Can you tell me why people are bothered about something starting a thread in the announcements declaring that they're leaving the forum? Even if it's attention whoring, at least they did it in the right part of the forum. Or am I missing something?

It just seems a bit silly to me.

Really? Because what I would conclude from the responses in this thread is that I'm in the distinct minority here in the not-really-liking-you part (and I've definitely not talked to you recently or been vocal about it up until this point...or at least not that I remember, I'm kinda addicted to sleeping pills and wake up not really knowing what I did the night before...:\ ).

But ANYHOOOOOOOW. What were we talking about again? *pops a pill*

I think I can tell you! It's right there in your post, actually, Cunning: people have different opinions about what constitutes an attempt to gain attention (is it "attention whoring" or "simply saying goodbye") and whether or not attention-seeking bothers them. End result? A long thread. Viva la argumenta! (That's fake French, I think.)

I'm on the side of those who are glad Sam said bye, otherwise I'd be asking people, "Hey? Where'd Sam go? Is he dead? Did he have an engineering experiment go horribly awry? WHERE IS SAM!?" It gives me a chance to put differences aside and say goodbye, too.

Plus, I liked him because we got along so badly. Mostly. Except when it came to the goals of free range agriculture, where Sam and I found an actual overlap in our opinions.

Yeah, if people just disappear, people will wonder why. Better to state your reasons and then people will say bye and then the thread dies.

He seemed abrasive and sometimes cunty and rude, but I quite like that, unless it pisses me off because the person who's doing it doesn't have a clue. I don't recall ever really speaking with Sam, but all the best anyway Sam.

I think you described Sam as I might. I actually prefer it when people are kind, unless they use abrasiveness for humor's sake. However, I do like it when people say what they really feel, otherwise you don't know where you stand with them.

I definitely knew where I stood with Sam, because he didn't hide his dislike, until the very end, that is, when I'm quite sure he was starting to get just the tiniest bit fond of joking with me...maybe!

When he turns vegan years from now and has me to thank for it, perhaps we'll hear from him again! (That is my attempt to flush him out of the real world and back to MB, to tell me how wrong I am!)

I have a clue. Its members is correct, it's members isn't. Any excuse to whip out old MC Grammar.

Straight to the point is always good, although a nice mixture is even better. I didn't really know/speak to him, so I dunno what he was like. But at least you knew where you stood.
