People need to stop complaining about this thread.

If you really think it's to attention whore, then don't contribute to giving him attention by posting here. I'm glad he posted this, because as some have said, if he just disappeared without a trace I and a number of other people would be wondering wtf happened. Maybe he did it just for attention, maybe he didn't. I think since he has been here for a while and the regulars know him so maybe he deserves the attention.

So, thanks for letting us know, sam.

^ I agree, it's more annoying to have 50 people in the shoutbox asking where someone is or what happened to so and so than it is to have a thread that answers those questions in advance.

i couldn't care less if this thread is needless or attention-whoring--those are some of my favorite types of threads. in fact i like this thread quite a bit. the advice i reiterated earlier was strictly to benefit any individual who may be considering making a departure thread like this--don't, you're going to look like an overly-dramatic dork who takes the internet way too seriously. i'm certainly not complaining about the thread itself though...it's good stuff.

This isn't about the internet. This is about the people (us) who use the internet. This is a fairly close-knit community and this kind of thread in this kind of forum makes sense.

there are ways to make departure threads without being over dramatic. it's just that the sort of people who would make such a thread usually don't. they just stop posting. because it's not that serious.

Well good luck and all that Sam even though we have crossed swords before I still thought you were an opinionated sod but it added to the charm.

Just take a break and come back in a couple of months.

Things are a bit mellow dramatic in here aren't they?

If someone wants to say tra, fine. That's up to them, if you don't like it just ignore it, wait for a few people to say cheerio and after 2 pages the page just dies out and everyone can carry on with their lives.

I will never get over this. Ever. But I'm cool with it.

I guess that makes me "mellow dramatic."
