so this is what happens when i stop posting for most of a week. i wonder what would happen if i went the whole 7 days?

good luck with everything Sam i'm assuming real life and university workloads are a significant (and very valid) part of your decision. Jimi said it best - if i don't see you no more in this world, i'll meet you in the next one.

pshh and Jerry Lee Lewis was the one who got **** on. He married a 13 year old...this guy was the original rocker. Screw you, Elvis. Sellout.

Edit: how this post ended up here I will never know...I swear I was posting this in the "Nirvana ruined rock music" thread...

Considering I joined at the same time as Sam, and we hung out a bit as n00bs togetyher before his knowledge surpassed mine fairly quick, I feel like I had a special conenction with him, and am therefore taking his loss harder then everyone else. Then again, in the last year we had very little conversation, that does make this any better though.

Have a good life, bro.

I don't think there is anything wrong with making departure threads. Otherwise I would've wondered where he went, obviously this online community means a lot of some people.

I don't see anything wrong with making a departure thread either, ESPECIALLY if it concerns a long-standing member. Newbies come and go without much notice, but for somebody who posts regularly I think it's necessary to at least say something so no one wonders what happened to them. This is standard etiquette on two other forums that I post on - we care about the well-being of our members and there is cause for concern if a regular member just vanishes without a trace. I really don't think there is any ego-stroking warranted by saying goodbye either - this is just as if one is leaving someplace and saying bye to whoever they were with. It's called having good manners.

I think lucifer_sam has decided that the forum is not a priority in his life anymore, and has stated that in his original post. He's also saying "hey, don't worry about me, I'm just letting you all know that I'm leaving for a period of time". I know that he's had squabbles with other members in the past and he's probably just decided that he's had enough of this for a while.

Oh and I'm not very fond of people who abandon a modship after only a few months, it's a tad ungrateful. The place hasn't changed that much since he's been modded so I'd guess he wasn't too keen on it back when he accepted it. I didn't say nuthin' back then (although you'll notice a lack of any enthusiasm on my part when he was modded) but from the response in this thread, I'd say I'm not the only one who thought he was quite abrasive and distinctly un-modlike material. Guess I wasn't wrong after all.

So yeah, so long and stuff. :\
Comments like these are the reason I decided to leave in the first place.

Like Conan said, the entire reason I decided to leave a parting note was to express my appreciation for this forum, and not stay sour grapes about it forever. If you think that's attention whoring, I don't really care. I've spent enough time and effort here to justify a simple thank you to everybody that mattered to me.

I'm not going to insult you for who I think you are (because that's still rude, remember?), I'd appreciate you to keep your grievances tucked aside for a while as well.

That being said my life has reached a point in which I no longer feel welcome here, and it's more than obvious at this point.

Oh and Brennan, you were one of the first that came to mind, I just never thought you saw me as a friend. Ditto on the drink, pal.
