If you want to continue posting on these forums then I would highly suggest dropping the issue.

Sounds like an POwer trip to me.

NeWays..I want a real MOD to point out where I called another MEMBER of this forum an insulting "derogatory" name??

Just because I cant PROVE my educated guess does not mean I cant state my opinion..
OH wait...LIKe Everyone on here sees Eye to Eye.

Whatever, If Im not gonna be able to express my opinion then I dont wanna be part of this forum anyhow.

Just wanted to throw this out there.

Im gonna go kill myself now,
CArry on.

You got a warning because in a mods opinion you intentionally insulted another member by saying their tattoo was retarded.
Before you accuse me of going on a power trip, I wasn't the mod that gave you the infraction.
Although it was well deserved.
Best advice I can give you is, if you don't have anything nice to say to a member...keep your opinions to yourself.
If you continue to be argumentative you'll just end up getting another.

Well I'm a "real Mod" just the same as Pete is, so I'll answer your question.

I wasn't there, but just from what I'm seeing here I'd give my friends and family this same advice. You're new, and you're not terribly deferential. Theres nothing says that you have to be necessarily, but a good tip for life is thinking two steps ahead.

For being mildly cordial you'd be on the receiving end of a wealth of community, musical knowledge, and general good humor (not the ice cream). Like most things in life, Musicbanter is offering something - in this case experience. And we generally like to keep company with people who don't piss us off. Many of us are at the very least over 21 and we come here because we choose to. The mods are in place to keep members that improve the site. We keep them by removing ones we hate.

If you want to stay, I don't mind going to bat for you, but understand we're not some "skaterz vs. preps" chat room (sorry I had AOL when I was 13) and we're here for some semblence of community. We like it to preserve some social propriety.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

LoathsomePete 12-15-2009 10:28 AM

I hate having to post the same thing twice but apparently once wasn't enough.

Well there's our rude ,insulting post, and personal attack. There was absolutely nothing to warrant that kind of comment, even if you truly believe that they are fake, insults like that are not acceptable on this forum or anywhere.

There's your inflammatory post that can also constitute as trolling at this point. You're showing no respect to any other poster, even ones that already called you out on your word choice, you're also making accusations that are unfounded and have no proof. Nobody reported your post, I monitored the thread and gave out the infraction as I saw fit, I doubt any Mod or member would argue with my decision.

hmm....Well thats good to know.
But I do and have noticed "clique" ish behaviour from SOME MODS and certain members. But since IM still "new" I guess what I say really doesnt matter anyhow.
If im suppose to act all "fake" and kiss A$$ to get people to approve of my online -"personality" well then Id rather just say "**** it to the bucket"

my two cents

Bane of your existence 12-15-2009 10:45 AM

Real shit, I do still think this place has overbearing moderation, and I think that it gives the site a really young feel, like the majority of posters are preteen. It's like having parents or teachers, which doesn't feel right on the internet. But when all is said and done, I've talked a pretty good amount of shit to a few different mods, and never been shy about voicing my opinion, and I'm still here. It shows me that the heads that clean up this place are pretty fair, and probably less immature than me since I would've banned myself by now. So people that get banned probably deserve it. It's just the little warnings that annoy me.

Well you'll notice from our new friends post that they asked her not to call other people "retarded." Its not a facist dictum.

And when sites are unmoderated they turn into spam havens who have one-day posters that say things like ...

"i like yeah yeah yeahs karen o is so awesome. i like the last album wut about u"

And you've seen these before. Before any real mod decision we labor over it, with at least 4 people putting in their thoughts. No one here is swinging the ban hammer like its cool.
