Musicbanter Incarceration Forum
I know this has been talked about before, however jokingly it may have been, but would it be possible to have a restriction forum for members to be "sent" for the duration of their penalty?
Example: MorreyFallen2 joins up, starts some nonsense, gets a warning, does not take heed. Bam, sent to the slammer for a week. Now, by being sent, I just mean all other forums become off limits. This allows the user to post in one limited "Prison" forum but with very restricted rules. The idea is that instead of full on banning someone you think has hope, you basically send him to "reform school" and the regular members are allowed to post there and possibly help these poor souls out without the offending user spamming up the regular forums trying to figure out how to operate in an online community. Of course, I don't know how possible this is, and it may be hardly worth bothering the admin over, but I think that it might add an interesting dynamic to the forums and I'm sure some regular members agree. If not, then that's just as well. Just thought I'd bring it up. If anyone else feels like this could be a good idea, let's hear it. |
I strongly support this idea.

I want this idea to have my babies.

Wouldn't multiple accounts make this a loophole?
and this sounds like a joke idea anyways. It's just a forum for christ sakes |

Yea, it could be kind of a dumb idea... I just think it would make things a bit more interesting. And it could work. Not that it matters in the grand scheme of life and the universe or whatever. It's just a forum... So I don't see what the harm is. |
You sneaky Nazi.

This has already been discussed in the Mod forum & rejected.
Firstly if someone is posting rubbish in the main forums, if you do sent them to an incarceration forum for continually ignoring warnings about their posting there's nothing to suggest that they'll do any better in that forum either. In that instance i'd personally rather just restrict their access to the forum altogether in the form of a weeks ban. Secondly if you do have someone in an incarceration forum there are certain other members of the forum who will spent their time goading these people for being in there and it will just create more arguments. Those 2 reasons were pretty much why the idea was dropped. |

Seriously, I like the concept of "ban first, ask questions later" or never. This isn't a daycare center. Let's save the time outs for pre-school. |
