There's so many pages in General it would get buried way back. So if the maker had any motivation to get it started again he/she could. There's the possibility of that random noob making some random like "toast?" in it making unnecessary bump but they'd find another thread to spread their nonsense regardless.

I'm not going to disagree with you, I just don't think giving them an easy return is what I want to go about doing. If the other mods override me, then we can do it, but the Journal shouldn't be something just everyone can show up here and use.
Its essentially a tiny sliver of a fan site. If you like a particualr poster, say "swim" and want to read more about her opinions, then you can go to her journal and check them out, troll free with actual discussion going on. What I don't want it to be, and in some ways its started down this path, is a thread to dump your **** in for god knows what reason, most likely a need for attention. This is why the idea of multiple journals kinda irks me. it isn't a concept album, its your page, and allowing people to abandon them means a. the quality will go down because you can always start over b. theres no need to think before you post because who cares, just PM a mod and get rid of it. I like the idea of certain failsafes being built in to ensure quality. I'm sympathetic to the idea of 5 years on, the journal you started as a 15 year old just isn't you any more. But we're talking 5 months difference. If people are forced to live with these posts, I'm sure they'll likely think twice before posting. Journals, and the posts the exist in them require approval for a reason. If you want my unsolicited opinion, too much changes here too quickly, not the people per say, but their names and interests and the like. What gives MB its large edge over some of our competitors is that people know what their getting here, and the other is we're not a spawning bed for 1-post champions to come in and leave their myspace advert all over the place. I'm writing all of this to encourage deabte, and so people can know where I stand. But over all i want people to know that a lot of work goes into the back field, and decisions that we come to slowly aren't half baked. the MB reader was a long long undertaking and we should treat it as something slightly better than the lounge.

Gotta go with Big3 (can I call you that?) on this one. I'm all for a One Journal Only thing if your other journals aren't something very specific or a community project. I'd hate to use myself as an example (and I don't mean to, it's just the only thing that comes to mind) but let's say I wanted to start a journal. I already have a journal called the MusicBanter Gazzette, but it's a group effort and posting things other than the latest issue and discussion wouldn't really make much sense.
So basically, one journal only with exceptions. Just my thoughts. |

I don't care what you call me, go for broke.
You should notice a massive decrease in the number of journal pages. I deleted the entierty of pages 3, 4, and 5. If you want something let me know as they've been soft deleted (you can ask any mod really). I'll be filtering through the current and remaining jorunals more throughly and when I feel I've sufficently weeded through, I'll set a universal date for all soft deletes to be permenant. Thanks.
