The Ultimately Pointless Thread On The Subject Of Removing The Swear Filter
I didn't leave England to be subject to laws bypassed by those in positions of power mate. This is America and the internet is free, we either fight now or we fight later. This might be cause for a revolution, or an explanation as to how I too can use my entire lexicon including those words deemed taboo by retarded censors and the Orwellian inspired Big Brother.
Mostly just a small case of jargon envy really. Also I will not be talked down to by anyone who's picture is that of a Piano playing Muppet Dog. |
Well, fuck, I fucking agree with this guy.
All these word censors are pure shit, I mean, if I want to fucking say shit, I think I should damn well be able to, don't you fucking agree ? |
I sure as **** do...now tell me how thereisnogoddamn it
|
Haha, this is gold. You're talking about Orwellian lack of freedoms and Big Brother about a censor on an internet forum?
The reasons there are filters are so that people like i get high sometimes don't make idiots out of themselves like he just did. I'll "talk down" to you if I so choose. |

I guess starving artless just doesn't see the seriousness of this matter. I mean seriously our lives depend on it.
@ said Artless one Despite the completely superfluous nature of you're responses and you're inability to spot a bit of banter on a forum that derives half it's name from it, I will tell that you any censorship of profanity or any other words only lends them more credence. While my comments prior were of course made with tongue firmly in cheek they were not without a morsel of truth behind them. Is it a pressing issue that profane language is banned here, of course not, but it is another example of unnecessary censorship reinforcing mis-representative presumptions about words. Lending words power is giving a crippled or disarmed foe ammunition, it is disregarding the sticks and stones and instead allowing the names to hurt you. What should happen of course is that everyone simply be free to express themselves as they feel aprapo and allowing the censorship to come on a personal level either by ignoring people who express themselves in a manner you find displeasing or simply using the "ignore user" feature this forum allots to it's members. I don't see how any right thinking person could possibly disagree. |
End the Censorship
Do not allow people who wish to give words power the ability to do so.
Allow all words to be used and reinforce personal freedom and the prospect of context defining words, not letters. Do the RIGHT thing. Addendum to the Community: If you believe in this message as much as me, please post the most offensive non-traditional curse word you can think of. You know a word that is not considered a swear that you find dirty. For me it's the word "MOIST" Grosses me out every time. |
No one has the ability to swear they just know how to bypass the swear filter, which most everyone except new users do. I'll PM you with how to since you wouldn't swear needlessly. But im pretty sure the censors are pre-installed or something like that.
|
This is not an attack on you or anyone else Crow, far from it. Just to be clear. I like you and that's that.
I do this at every forum I visit and stay at and have had great success lifting word bans. There is one common bond in every successful case, strong community support. This is not about my ability to type cuss words, though I thank you for trusting my discretion. This is about the principal which while it may seem trivial, is a big part of why I left the UK for the States. Regardless Thank you and I hope you'll join the cause. |
Yeah, I think the censors are pointless for whenever the following names come up.
Marvin Gaye Bruce Dickenson Alfred Hitchcock Granted, the last one doesn't come up much (if at all) but names with cock in them do (I just couldn't think of any), and same with dick. Gay, not so much. I think if the censors can be lifted, they should be since: 1. They get in the way alot 2. Most people aren't offended by swearwords, especially nowadays 3. Most people can get pass them anyway. |
Blah blah blah. No one cares. Deal with it, there's censors. If you don't like it bypass the filter.
|
Getting by the censors is not all that hard, behold.
Cock Shit Motherfucker. Quote this post to see what I did. Though its wrong to use this technique just for the sake of abusing the rules. I only like to use it to say things that shouldn't be censored in the first place. Like Marvin Gaye, Joe Cocker and Bruce Dickinson. |
The only word that should've been removed a long time ago is "gay". I have absolutely no idea why it was included in the first place.

haha. i love those **** van **** threads.
"no love fo' **** van ****?" |
this **** is wak! doesnt really bother me actually, just sometimes hard to figure out what they said when there is something like '**** ****ed ****ers'. kinda sucks, but if you overuse cursewords they loose their meaning anyhow.

Everything you said is exactly what I think, except you said it better (Me no know big words). It's like the number one rule of communication; words in and of themselves have no meaning. We assign meaning to words, and if people assign the same meaning to curse words ("They're bad, offensive, and mean"), then that's their hang-up. Why should other people's freedom of speech be stifled because some minister in some backwater county in some state heard something on a radio he just didn't like? That's what freedom of choice is there for. HOWEVER, this is an internet forum, dictated by one administrator, and registering means forfeiting any freedoms you've had before. It isn't like a democracy like the one we have in the US, where one branch of government checks the other branches and makes sure they aren't misusing their power, and vice versa. It's one man, one server. |
I certainly understand that this is a private enterprise and those who are responsible for operating it have the right to monitor and censor it's content. I also feel they have an obligation to listen to their forum members if they wish to remain successful. So while I don't think it's a my way or the highway issue, I am curious to see just what everyone here thinks about the censorship and how necessary it really is.
Fight the power I suppose. |
Don't mind fighting the power, just as long as the power isn't some guy just like us but who has our e-fates in his hands. I CAN"T LIVE WITHOUT MY FORUM JUICE, MAN!
I seriously believe that the people for censorship don't support it because they don't want to see that "filth" or hear it or whatever. They don't want ANYBODY to see it. It makes them all righteous, making them feel like they are saving society by having smut covered up. I mean, if they really didn't want to see it, they could just turn the knob/don't look at it/avoid it. So either what I believe is true, or they really are that stupid. |

Do you find the need to swear excessively when talking about music?
after all, there are chitlin's on the intraweb that might see your expletives, and shit themselves |
I feel the need to have the choice to do so, and see no point in not giving people the choice. Of course it's not a pressing issue, it's just stupid that people accept it needlessly when no one is for it. It's the principal, let each individual decide what is over the line for them personally.
Know what I mean? |
You have choice
The choice to start your own forum with no swear filters. :) |
Money. Websites cost money. Aanyway, the real reason JJJ doesn't start a new forum is because of Murder Junkie. You see JJJ real name is actually this anagram:
SECSIA MIPSONS |
I know taborama before it got shut down had filters for the last year. Something to do with keeping the advertisements on the site active, which was what the owner practically lived off of to keep the site up.
But I don't think I've seen any ads here. |

I've actually brought this up before. I think. I think there are more members offended that they're having words filtered on here than people who are offended by said words, i have no compelling urge to swear constantly, but i do in my posts just like i would in a nursery, and it's of an inconvenience to me when people read my posts and words are starred out, it makes it more difficult for people to read and understand. If one person can find me a thread prior to this post in which a relevant member of MB has said they're deeply offended by common 'swear words' then i;'ll take it all back. |
I don't like the censorship, but I can live with it. It's just annoying when Herbie Hancock and Bruce Dickinson get censored. I think if anyone really wants to swear, they won't have much problem bypassing the censorship system. :D

On the news today in Louisville they were reading a story where someone had told someone else off at a local mall and the anchor said. "The man, 32, told the store clerk to go and expletive himself. And that he kiss his expletiving expletive."
Gee, I wonder what the guy said. Also the first time I've heard the "word" expletiving used. Another annoying form of censorship in the states is when the put movies on basic cable like Casino or Goodfellas or my personal favorite The Big Lebowski. The best edit is when Walter is smashing the sports car and yelling... "This is what Happens When you find a stranger in the Alps" |
We have the 9pm watershed here.
After which, it's no holds barred as far as offensive language goes. |
We don't have censorship.
