Hmm...
I could imagine that thread getting pretty hilarious.

I don't have an accent though, so it wouldn't be beneficial to anyone if I made a recording. I do have some impressive burps though...

Apparently not according to everyone I've ever met who's commented on the fact.

After being in the military, I've met A LOT of different people from different places. When asked where I'm from and they find out I'm from Louisiana, they always remark that I don't have the accent and in fact don't have one at all.
I speak extremely flat.
If that's an accent, then it's new to me.

EDIT:
I'm talking about American English, btw.
Although I'm no professor about it... So the above is merely deductive reasoning.

But to the British it would be an accent, an American accent.

Maybe you have a broad an generic American accent like I've been told I do but it's still an accent. Someone from another country wouldn't listen to you speak and think that you have no accent.

^ True.

I remember hearing a British guy saying Americans have no accents... I don't remember when or where. I guess I got that perspective from what I'd heard.
But since I'm not British, I'd need a British person to confirm or deny that to Brits, Americans have or don't have an accent.

You really need confirmation on that? The word "accent" just means a distinct way of pronouncing words. Since Americans pronounce words in a way that is distinct from other ways of pronouncing words we have accents, American accents.

I don't need that confirmation. I was simply offering that I can't speak for British people in order to nullify what I was told by a British person.
