I don't particularly like your attitude. Do pop and classical yourself if your going to be an ass about it.

Um...okay. I think you misunderstood me, but I'll take your name off if that's what you'd like.

I know it's a small category, and I'm not sure where it would fit, but I could write a good introductory thread for film scores and soundtracks. I could cover everything from early silent film scores, musicals/show tunes, modern day soundtracks, and even videogame music. All the categories here are actual categories in the music forums, so I guess if I did one it could go in the Soundtrack sub-section of the Media section in the forums. If anyone else thinks it would be worth it for me to do one, I'd be glad to.

I can do jazz and help out with prog/classical if need be. But I'm very very busy at the moment... and even when I do get onto forum stuff, I've got another forum project plus my King Crimson thread.

I don't think we're ever going to find anyone to do Classical or Country/Folk because of the lack of interest.
Classical wouldn't be that difficult to do lucifer_sam,,,it has made a remarkable comeback in recent years due to the downloading phenomenon, people that only wanted certain sections of their favorite pieces can now just take them instead of a complete work. And the CD versions are so much better than the albums simply because of the recording quality, no more pops, clicks etc. to interfere with the quiet passages. I still have some priceless vinyl copies, but have replaced my whole library with CD versions now.

The sheer scale of the classical period is daunting at first, but you could simply start with Bach as the giant of the Baroque period, then move into the prime time interval with the giants of the field, Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky etc. and finish with Shostakovich/Stravinsky/Rachmaninoff. Then UberFilmBuff could add the modern composers whose music was predominantly used in films and that brings us right up to date. Just a thought, this introduction thread is a very good idea.

Of course having Seltzer involved in this would add the gravitas necessary to get more people to actually check it out.

I think most people have some idea of where my knowledge is.

Will do.

I'd like it if someone could possibly help with hardcore punk, unless it would be fine if I just included the big ones:

Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables
Black Flag - Damaged
Bad Brains - Bad Brains
Minor Threat - First Two 7"s on a 12"
Circle Jerks - Group Sex

?

Ok, I have a basic knowledge of modern composers beyond the film scores (Steve Reich, most of Philip Glass's work, etc.)
