The fact that both exist on the same site isn't a problem. Those who are here for music discussion shouldn't have any issues with unrelated conversations that are going on in non-music sections. If they do, then perhaps they should evaluate their own priorities...
I'm only giving my opinion on the matter. Not to say that anything can change or what, because I do understand why both are currently on the site. And sure, I suppose people can choose to post in the lounge, or post in the music sections. But it can get annoying when there is more off topic discussion going on then actual music discussion, which is what a majority of people would come here to talk about. Not saying there is none, because i've gotten into some now, but the off topic discussions seem to be getting more and more ridiculous.

But like I said, I could be one of few people who think that.

I don't mind the non music discussions so much.
the only time it gets boring is when people just constantly talk about themselves all the time. Like from going to the your day thread to the what drug did you last snort thread to the when did you last take it up the arse thread to the bitch box to the what fruit did you last buy thread to the tell us about ever sexual partner you've ever had in your life thread to the when was the last time you sat on your fat arse for 10 minutes & did nothing thread.

That's when people annoy me.

Then your issue lies more with people's tendencies, rather than the forum construct they're subject to. I don't think that's something you can address in this thread...

Keep coming up with suggestions, people, and debate them. Let's try to get some solid ideas to add to the list.

I'll be back periodically to address any specific inquiries if necessary, but the other senior mods (and especially ex mods: Right-Track, Urban Hatemonger, Bulldog, etc.) should be able to answer questions or address issues in regards to known MB information as well, if they desire. And, as always, we have a wealth of tech-savvy folks in the community to help put technical matters into perspective.

It would be great if we had some way of knowing we had received a new visitor message. Maybe in the same box that tells us when we have new PMs?

Yeah, that would be nice! The notifications in the CP tends to blend in with everything else on the page so I don't always see them.

Thirded. A forum that I used to post on a lot had this exact feature.

One of my favorite features on other forums I frequent is the "View your posts" button. The name is misleading, however, because it doesn't actually show you your individual posts, it shows you threads that you have posted in, sorted by those with the newest posts at the top.

It's really handy for seeing all the topics you've been active in recently and quickly viewing/responding to them.

Fourth supportive vote for a notification for profile comments.

I will be sleeping on this in general, and trying to think of anything useful to implement, but I'm more or less satisfied with the forum. My needs are modest, and I adjust rather easily to new forum templates.

I think this would (should) be included in the "new notification" link that would pop up in the welcome area on the top right, right under the private message notification, and also include an option to enable a pop-up window for alert.

As long as there's something notifying you to click on that link to bring you to your CP, where the actual notifications are, I think that would do. Did you have something else in mind regarding that?
