The other day in the Shoutbox we had a little problem, a man named 9feetunderground joined the site and started to spam and annoy everyone. He was abnned but kept on making new accounts and spamming once again. Me and Stone Birds were discussing this and thought of an idea.
Is there a way that we can limit the shoutbox and lounge so that members can't post there until they have both
A:Introduced themselves
B:Made at least 5 posts in the music forums

hahaha really? i missed out, what was he actually spamming or was it just more internet mind control paranoia? did he ever give Janszoon the Skynet theory he kept asking for?

That sounds like a good idea. I am so sure that all those accounts were coming from the same person (as was mentioned in the shoutbox).

Dave - I'm not sure if what happened in the shoutbox can be called "spamming" (I always think of that as advertizing something). It was more trolling than anything. Extremely annoying.

It was really wierd he came in and was screaming stuff. Then made new accounts including Davethetrucker, Buddyjolly and xxxkawaiiixxx. He kept on ranting about how he watched kinky anime, masturbated over Buddy Holly and screaming random crap. It was intense.

We're already working on that. When we know, we'll let everyone else know.

Definitely the strangest thing that's happened in the shoutbox since I joined a year ago.

Yay, the posts limiting the shoutbox is definitely a possibility, it should be 15 just like the posting urls. I think it would help MASSIVELY.

What difference does making a post limit on entering the shoutbox really make to someone who's only here to spam anyway?

All that does is make them spam the main forum instead of the shoutbox.
And as the shoutbox was put there in the first place to reduce the amount of spam in the main forum it makes it totally counter-productive if you're just sending all the rubbish back to the forum.
