We need a good assassination in order to shake things up here. Burn down the Modshtag! I mean, those filthy commies and/or Jews did it. Now suspend all civil rights!

This is a music forum not the foil helmet society that meets in your basement on the 2nd Thursday of the month

Frownland 04-17-2018 07:56 PM

...do the meetings with the wigs count?

Goofle 04-18-2018 01:19 AM

Accept that democracy doesn't work or welcome anal beads as our new mod.

YOU choose [MERIT].

A quick and easy way to improve things would be to have Batlord put up some more "What sucks about...." threads. The two threads so far cleverly exploit our natural craving to insult rather than praise famous musicians, so let's keep going...

Yes I agree they are good, however getting Batty to commit to something is about as likely as having a day in Ireland without rain.

I can commit to things I don't have to work at.

Do it, then. Kick up another thread. I suggest, um, Metallica?

MicShazam 11-06-2018 09:31 AM

I don't get why it's so great. Just a bunch of samey sounding low grade pop.

The Batlord 11-06-2018 09:36 AM

So you do understand why it's great.

rostasi 11-06-2018 09:37 AM

Yes, K-Pop, that “new” sensation that’s only been around for 25 years.
(Seo Taiji anyone?)

Yellow fever.

The Batlord 11-06-2018 09:39 AM

I find it's much better on Dengue fever.

But where's the sleaze? So maybe the real problem is that it's not low grade enough. It's neither good enough or bad enough.

That's what happens when you're exposed to too much kawaii.

The Batlord 11-06-2018 09:47 AM

It's like any good pop. It's catchy and won't get the **** out of your head. Sleaze is a plus though.

MicShazam 11-06-2018 10:03 AM

Then I talk to a guy who only listens to grindcore 24/7 and he will tell me it's supposed to be unpleasant. Just wait until that guy discovers K-pop.

So now you're recommending people listen to metal? Quite the change of heart.

So you only listen to the purest powerviolence?

[MERIT] 11-20-2018 02:19 AM

Does every member need their own "Look at me, I'm special, recommend music to me" thread? Half of the OP's don't even reply, so it turns into a never-ending "post whatever music you like" thread. Don't the stickied genre recommendation threads cover this niche?

MicShazam 11-20-2018 02:24 AM

I've replied to everything except the newest three in mine. Taking this seriously

Why don't you just quit whining and start your own? It's more fun that way.

Plankton 11-20-2018 07:24 AM

I did one for a few days a while back, then I got busy and really didn't have the time to go through all the rec's, and a lot of the one's I did listen to weren't anything I'd consider pursuing.

rostasi 11-20-2018 09:54 AM

Well, I try to give people the benefit of the doubt
and genuinely try to recommend something that
could be down their musical alleyway. But, it's
soon easy to realize whether they're genuinely
interested by watching what they do after they've
been offered suggestions. Either they've had their
"look my way" moment fulfilled and lose interest
or they're actually running with the ball that was
given to them by others.

Definitely. Really surprised you liked Crazy Horses. Such a goofy tune but it grooves.

windsock 11-20-2018 11:27 AM

Lazy people get to have music recommended to them that they don't have to search for themselves, and the recommendees have an opportunity to pretentiously flex their musical knowledge on strangers over the internet. It's a win-win.

I really is, I love dishing out a ton of recommendations, even if they happen to not like what I recommend.

So you find it odd that people at a music forum want to gather recommendations for music albums they've probably never heard? And they're going to people that tend to have a pretty good grasp on what sounds good? Yeah man, we should just stop that altogether. How dare we share our music interests with one another. What is this, a music forum?

Plankton 11-20-2018 01:47 PM

I say we gather up these 'recommend me something' people and have em all walk the (my) plank.

MicShazam 11-20-2018 01:50 PM

Am I off the hook if I start a thread where I refuse to listen to any music shown to me by other members?

[MERIT] 11-20-2018 05:11 PM

I think that 1 stickied music recommendation thread per genre is enough. If every f*cking member made one, then this place would be overrun.
