Anteater
Schizotypic
sleepy jack
Wayfarer
LoathsomePete
CAPTAIN CAVEMAN (?)

Probably some others... I dunno if they were justified or not, or they had to do with the feminism thread, will have to ask boo.

To add to this, Clamz, Comus and possibly bungalow.

NumberNineDream 08-26-2009 01:58 AM

all were banned because of the shoutbox ... check the shoutbox history, that should be easier.

The Unfan 08-26-2009 02:05 AM

Comus is still banned, and boobs is currently still a mod. Fix these?

I realise I've brought this up years in the past and been told that it's not this websites style but I somewhat believe recent events make it pertinent.

boo boo
thing is
boo boo
when I asked to be mod I only wanted to mod the prog section
boo boo
which I think I did a good job of overseeing
boo boo
but the whole forum was another story, I tried, but I can't control my temper like a mod should

So I'll say it again: localised mods?

Pros:
Less burn outs.
Reduced responsibility for new mods.
Closer community relations between the staff and people who post only on specific boards.
Something to fall back on if the workload of Global gets too much whilst still being able to contribute to the forum.
"Vetting" to see who would or wouldn't make a suitable Global instead of dumping them in the deep end.
Training to prepare people for becoming a Global so that they're used to responsibility before being dumped in the deep end.

Cons:
???

Anyway my piece is said :) As some of you may remember I'm a global on another website elsewhere (not a music one) so I'd like to think I speak from experience. Nowadays I'm not as adamant as I used to be on the matter because I recognise that MusicBanter has it's own unique hierarchy and structure, but it's still something I think it would be worth at least discussing and ruminating upon in your HQ.

what i personally love about this whole blowing up situation is that all these members hold mods to some unattainable standard of neutrality and graciousness, which in turn limits the actual posting that mods do because they are afraid to tarnish this ideal. when mods do act like human beings everyone freaks out. just look at the way mods have posted after they've lost their modships, they seem more relaxed and more liable to speak their mind instead of playing peacemaker or babysitting idiots. the exception to this rule is probably brennan, who speaks his mind whenever he wants really.

when will members learn that mods should be able to vent just the same as anyone else becaue they are the same as everyone else, except we've elevated them to a higher status because we know that when shit goes down they'll keep their heads.

Because mods have to set the example so that when someone oversteps the mark they can deal with it without looking like hypocrites. Fortunately they do set the example with the exception of a couple, including Boo Boo.
