I'm a bit concerned about Batty's ban. This forum was like, his life. Without it, he might do something crazy. Like actually make something of himself.

i just want to be able to http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--h4eLCX9kl...ike-symbol.png posts, so i can still maintain a forum presence without posting, because staying online all day waiting for a shoutbox mention isn't cutting it and the alphabetical rap song titles thread is dead

It's a nice change of pace but just strange! |

I'm sure I know the answer to this but anyway, is there any way to extend the amount of characters you're allowed to have in your sig? I keep having to trim things down as we're restricted to 1000. It's pretty annoying. Probably can't be changed but if anyone knows of a way...
|
LOL did you look at your post compared to your sig? Your sig is so much larger and awkward looking than your actual post. I'm glad there is a limit on it.

Create a picture with a bunch of stuff/text that you want to present. Some of it won't be clickable, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

This forum needs more Kanye.

I'm not starting a campaign here or anything, but in the light of what happened here this weekend, I'd ask the mods to just take a look at how they're policing, or not, the forum. Like almost everyone else I assume, I don't want the fun here to be curtailed, and I'm more than happy to take my share of "attacks", but as we've seen, there can be occasions where it has quite clearly gone too far.
In those circumstances, I'd just like to suggest that a quick "cool it guys" or "stop with the personal stuff" post from a mod might be a good way of a) telling the person pushing things too far that they're pushing things too far and b) letting the person on the receiving end know that someone has noticed that things are getting out of hand and is doing something about it. I'm certainly not asking for bans or anything, and I don't expect every conversation or thread to be monitored with draconian rigidity - nobody wants that - but I'm sure more than one mod will admit he or she has seen things escalate and thought "hell with it; they can sort it out between themselves", and just looked the other way. Nine out of ten times, yes, this works, but for the tenth, when it looks like things are getting too heavy, a small but firm intervention would I believe help in most cases. Of course, when it's a mod who's guilty of doing the pushing, well then, that's another matter, but one for that person him or herself to realise they've stepped over a line. Hopefully, with just a tiny little bit of extra care and vigilance, we can keep this place the free and happy one it has been. |
With your meltdown I don’t think the mods had reason enough to intervene.
You were upset but the **** that upset you was fair game. People’s art is open for criticism as a general rule. No one’s art has taken more heat than Frown’s music. You were hurt that I kept ****ting on your writing and I’m off that now but I don’t think it would be a matter for the mods unless I started using your sister or your pets as punchlines but I didn’t go there. My opinion jobs and marriages and sexual failings should be fair game but children, dying parents and dead pets are too much. Actually I think it would be fun to keep that **** on the table but I’m deranged. |
I agree with all of this. I'm not saying they necessarily should have stepped in for me. I'm just asking them to be alive to the possibility that someone might be taking too much offence at what's being said, and to step in if that happens. That's all. Just for the future.
Look, all I want is a protective glass bubble, round-the-clock security and to be treated differently than others. I mean, in the end, isn't that what we all want? |
I tbink we have a goodmod team now and ive seen all of them except maybe Bricks intervene in threads to tell people to knock it off. I think the biggest problem is that aside feom Frown they are not as active as many of us.
|
Let the older inactive mods go.
Appoint new ones. Suggested it before and it didn't go down well. But it's probably overdue. |

I do think some pruning is in order but I think we're set otherwise. Where do you guys think we're lacking? |
The mod team obviously needs a shake up.
Been about three years. There are like 4 or 5 that visibly do a good job, could do with a couple more. This is just my opinion though. |
