I do, actually.

And the middle click thing would be useful if I had a mouse with 3 buttons. Or rather, if I had a mouse at all.
CTRL&Click works too :)

Haha, I'm not sure if I'd like that, but to each his own.
By the way, clicking the tab with the MMB closes it.
CTRL&T opens a new tab, CTRL&SHIFT&T re-opens a closed tab.
CTRL&F4 closes a tab.
Alt&Click does a download dialogue.

I always have mouse gestures installed for forward/back.
clicking RMB with LMB pressed is forward, clicking LMB with RMB pressed is backwards.
Makes you surf really quickly.
I don't use it here as my trackball has forward/reverse buttons.

Freebase Dali 05-09-2011 11:47 AM

Hehe, I edited the post because I realized I didn't quite say it correctly.

s_k 05-09-2011 11:49 AM

:D.
Ah well, too quick.
RMB open in tab is what I did too until I accidentally clicked MMB :D.

Hey, is there anyone else who noticed that the spoiler tags are not working? Maybe I'm not using them right? I tried using them a few minutes ago, inputting the text into the little box that pops up, but then when I submit the post it shows nothing.

Paedantic Basterd 05-11-2011 08:50 AM
This is a spoiler
Hey, they don't.

Hey, they don't.

When I input text, in the text box the tags go something like this:

[ SPOILER = "text blah blah blah" ]
without the spaces of course, and nothing in between the actual tags. I'm wondering if they disabled the spoiler tags? It probably took a long time to get them implemented, and now they're gone? Hmmm....

djchameleon 05-11-2011 11:50 AM

Spoiler for why isn't this working:
I think it works

Not disabled

Burning Down 05-11-2011 11:58 AM

I figured out why they weren't working for me. It has been awhile since I've actually used them so I guess I forgot how :o:

Spoiler for title goes here:
text goes here

There we go. Problem solved.

Is there a way to tag a member in a specific post or thread, alerting them to something that is about them or that you think may interest them?

(ex: When making a new thread about a band that you think another user may like, you could "tag" them in the thread, alerting them to it, even though they have not subscribed.)

The CP would probably fill up quickly with notifications like that. I'd rather the person just PM me the link to whatever they think would interest me, if they want to bring it to my attention directly.

The list has already been submitted though...

This.
I'm merging this thread with the existing suggestions thread.

[MERIT] 05-13-2011 11:48 PM

Is there a way to see a member's previous usernames? Sometime's I'll be talking to someone on here and realize that I knew them from years ago. Or I'll talk to a friend like a complete stranger and look like an ass. And if you take any sort of sabbatical from the site and come back, it's like you don't know anyone.

No. It's pretty much word of mouth.

[MERIT] 05-13-2011 11:56 PM

Would that be something worth integrating?

I'm not sure that's possible.
I don't think that's a feature of the forum software, and not sure whether it's necessary anyway.

[MERIT] 05-14-2011 12:15 AM

I don't see the need for superfluous username changes. Mine's always been the same, keeping it low-key, all undercase (lame pun intended). Sometimes less is more.

That's one position amongst others.

s_k 05-14-2011 03:49 AM

WHO is DoctorSoft?

djchameleon 05-14-2011 04:40 AM

UglyOrgan.

I know this is really far fetched that's why I didn't even mention it in the previous improvements thread.

What would be the possibility of Admin upgrading to the latest version of v.bulletin?

Burning Down 05-14-2011 07:01 AM

I don't believe that viewing previous usernames is even a feature available on any VBulletin forum. I don't see how that would be very useful when instead you could just ask the person in question if they ever had another username.

A minuscule correction (I hope you don't mind) "undercase" is commonly referred to as "lower case" or "minuscule."

it was a contextual pung, Neap.

And I agree with oojay. Name changes are freakin ridiculous.

I know a couple of members who had their name change, people grow and sometime they want or need a change in their life, so I don't find it so "freakin ridiculous."

s_k 05-25-2011 03:29 AM

Ghehe, if people just used something that has something to do with their name, they wouldn't have to change it.

yeah but that would be lame and unoriginal

people like aliases the only downside is that some people get bored of said aliases or they think they have come up with some better one.

s_k 05-25-2011 04:50 AM

I still see it as unpractical and confusing :D

it's confusing because you don't like variety which is the spice of life!

s_k 05-25-2011 05:00 AM

Well... reason people have names is so you can call and recognize them...

That's a bit harsh.

I don't think he took it that way especially since I put a smiley on the end. I was only teasing, not insulting even though you may feel that way.

Scarlett O'Hara 05-25-2011 05:18 AM

I don't see a smily?

you don't see a tongue sticking out? :p it's not the forum looking smiley but it's more of the text one.

See? No smily. Not even text. So you can see how I thought it was harsh.

look at the one you quoted and look at the one that you JUST quoted and edited out the smiley

s_k 05-25-2011 05:54 AM

Whahaha, guys... don't bother :D
On my forum (not kidding) it's not allowed to change user names without requesting.
And these are requests like "Change Louistje to Louis" (Louistje is diminutive for Louis) or change "Ritsjie Recordings" into "Ritsjie", because the recording stuff didn't happen. Or change "Alexanderverbeek" into "Alexander", because verbeek looked stupid :D.

Urban Hat€monger ? 05-25-2011 07:30 AM

Or alternatively instead of trying to integrate it into the forum software you could just copy the name change thread in the mod forum so it's a public list.

There's a name change thread in the mod forum? Wow, there must be a whole 'nother world that us regulars don't see.
