I am making a reminder here. Many sticky threads on top of the page are not being used so much, maybe they should be unstuck and leave 2 or 3 popular threads in each forum. It is certainly confusing to have all these threads on top.

Is it Krautrock or is it me?
Krautrock pops up regularly on MB as new people discover it or want to share a rec. On MB it's spread across several sections: Avant Garde, Electronica, Rock&Metal and Prog&Pysche. It doesn't really have a "homebase" thread, like other genres that come to mind. For instance, from MB's first page, it takes one click to go to the Ska section, another click on the first thread at the top, and there you are, picking up on the latest Ska recs. You can't do that with Krautrock, which is why I'm suggesting we have a stickied thread in the Prog&Psyche subforum. Marie is kind of tentatively on board with the idea, but it would be nice to have a comment from other members so that she doesn't dismiss me as a lone crank. If you think it's a good idea, you could put a thumbs up below or follow Tristan's comment in this thread:- https://www.musicbanter.com/rock-met...ml#post2137056 In detail, the thread could begin with an index to other Krautrock threads, then be a massive Krautrock Recommendation thread, which we already have as the Kosmische Musik/Krautrock thread. It could be done by merging two or perhaps three threads, and go under the admittedly clunky title: Krautrock Index and Recommendation Thread. Thus Krautrock would come of age and have a long, permanent Rec thread, hopefully more active because more accessible, the way it is for many genres here.

Sorry to be grumbling one more time about the merging of threads- a problem that drives me to distraction, but no else seems to care about
This morning it's the Argentinian music threads: we have 3: https://www.musicbanter.com/country-...argentina.html Argentina https://www.musicbanter.com/country-...argentina.html How good is the music of Argentina ? https://www.musicbanter.com/country-...argentina.html Popular musicians from Argentina All three threads are a mix of modern and traditional, so they can't be seperated on that basis. Which is rather my point: is there any basis for having seperate threads? __________________________________________________ ________________ We also have two threads on Fionn Regan, although in this case, it's super easy to distinguish between them: one thread is titled "Fionn Regan" while the other one is titled "Fionn Regan". https://www.musicbanter.com/country-...onn-regan.html https://www.musicbanter.com/country-...onn-regan.html __________________________________________________ _________________ Am I really the only person on MB who thinks like this: "I'd like to post something about Krautrock/ Argentinian music/ Fionn Regan. Where shall I put my post? These MB threads are really confusing - the easiest thing to do is not bother."

Sure I care about a tidy forum but I think that wouldn't deter me from posting. I'd just post in the most recent thread and ask the mods to maybe merge the different threads. I don't think they will go scouring the forum for those kinds of things by themselves. It needs to be highlighted and then it's easy as pie to fix...

Thanks, addidass. I agree that we shouldn't expect mods to go through the boards looking for duplicate threads to merge.
Recently, Marie was kind enough to consider sorting out the Krautrock threads at my suggestion. The problem was that no one would even post a thumbs up to support the idea that we have one permanent go-to thread for Krautrock:- Quote:

Consolidated the requested threads
RE: krautrock I missed that convo. Merging them is fine but a sticky feels unnecessary. If it's popular enough it should stay afloat on the relatively quiet prog and psych subforum.
