Default Vs. Threads

Okay its up to you guys to decide whether or not they're to be allowed.

Personally I think they should be but with some sort of criteria and intelligence behind them as well as an actual debate following the opening post because frankly I'm getting tired of Classic rock or metal band A vs classic rock or metal band b and then everyone going "band a>band b" and noting coming of it other than the occasional "YOURE A MORON BAND B IS SO SUPERIOR!!1"

So yeah vote and please provide reasons reasons for your choice. Oh and please note, this isn't going to be set in stone depending on the winner of the poll it's just to gather your opinions which will probably influence the outcome and we could take away vs. threads at any point if we don't think they're necessary.

With conditions, yes they should. As long as it's not a baseless comparison and the op gives reasons why it's not I see no reason why they shouldn't.

I'd say they should be allowed, but with some standards. If it's at least a somewhat intelligent discussion about two similiar artists/albums/etc, than there's no reason to ban it. But if the two "contestants" have very little or nothing to do with each other and the "discussion" consists of "this bands better!', "No, this bands better" or something like that then ban it.

Fail.

I voted yes, needless to say. Of course, with standards.

Of course it could easily get to that level, which is why there should be 'standards'. And I'm sure people hate comparing art on some levels, but I think a side by side comparison of the elements of the bands, would only lead to a better insight of the groups' sound for new listeners. Even though most of these polls would prob be well known bands, YES...

This, so yes.
Though i want to say that i don't think a poll is necessarily bad just because the 2 artists are different, though i could see this resulting in a flood of poll's, so the other conditions would have to be quite strict.
