But it's a free and (somewhat) open forum, and I guess I just don't see why he should have that taken away from him just because he's a mod. He's the most active member I can think of and sometimes says some enjoyable stuff. Have any actual problems come up with his status? Has he abused it in anyway?

He hasn't banned anyone for an inappropiate reason that I know of, I'll give him that.
But I still think mods should set an example, if you're gonna act as a forums moral police, than you of all people should at least set some kind of example and not go by a double standard. Ethan gets away with things the average n00b wouldn't. |

boo boo, Crowquill has never once abused his modding privileges.
Never once has he misused the modCP for anything other than moderating. Yes, he does get involved in the odd argument, but I've never once seen him use personal, or abusive language to anyone that would warrant an infraction, or ban, had Crowquill been a regular member. His contribution to MusicBanter is substantial. He trawls through every new post meticulously, deleting spam, merging, closing and moving posts and threads and keeping the place tidy. I doubt MB has a more dedicated member. He organises polls and lists and is always helpful to members when they need it. There are times when modding MB can be a pain in the arse. It's not easy constantly trying to remain impartial, especially when a subject matter arises that you feel passionate about. |

I'm not criticizing how he does his job on a technical level. Just rather that he has done things other people get in trouble for on a regular basis. He dosen't abuse his powers to intimidate others, but he does seem to take advantage of it.
He trys to provoke on a regular basis, not to an extent that he should be banned but its not something a mod should do and theres no excuse for it. I think of him as a troll and therefor not moderator material. If he cuts outs all the bullsh*t, then thats fine. He should get some kind of warning. Otherwise I will continue to push for his dismissal. Last edited by boo boo; 07-28-2007 at 05:46 AM. |

Crowquill's faults are far outweighed by his plusses.
I can see why you've raised the points you have, but I don't understand why you would call for his removal. None of us are perfect, you and I included. I do think his removal is totally and completely unnecessary. If you could see the contribution he makes behind the scenes your attitude would be different. There's always room for improvement, maybe we can all take something from this. |

I don't really know what to say. All of these accusations could easily be addressed at me or some other mod. I'm not sure what your standard for mod behavior is. :-|

I understand. Everyone has a responsability. But mods more than others. I think Ethan should take some of the responsabilities beyond just the standard things every mod should do. Behavior is important for a mod as well in my opinion.
None of the other mods continiously provoke others and start one flame war after another. He does. Thats what I'm saying. Quote:
