Reviewing Member Music (lyrics, single, reviews, artist, song)

Do we have anything set up, or would anyone be interested in setting up a thread that goes beyond reviwing lyrics to include listening to and reviewing the online song as a whole?

I don't see why you just can't do that in the thread they post the song in...

This would probably just turn into a spamthread. Where once in a while someone posts a song.

It wouldn't work as a single thread, because there wouldn't be enough new material to keep it going, so yes spamfest.

It wouldn't work as a sub-forum because there once again wouldn't be enough new material to keep people looking at it, so it would be yet another invisible section like promotions, international and all that.

People come and look at the songwriting forum and this would be a critique of the songwriting as well as the recording etc. so it's perfectly suitable to put it in the songwriting section. In addition to being suitable, it's also the best way to get people to listen and to respond because it's not a big change to the already established way of critiquing lyrics that we have set up.

All that is needed is a link to the music at the beginning of the thread, so that people can go and listen to wherever it is. I've already done it plenty of times, if people are prepared to read lyrics they're more than happy to listen to the music it goes with.

Most posts in Lyrics don't have the song linked. Also, some of the reviews can be pretty thin, no offense, and that's if you get a review at all. I'm talking about something more in-depth and mutual that doesn't necessarily have to be consistent - just there for when people want some decent feedback on something they've recorded. Or maybe do a featured artist type thing where everyone signed up has to post reviews every week or whatever in order to stay on the list of who gets to put a song up next and get reviewed....

I know I'd get more into clicking those links and listening if people started coming together to do it. But whatever, just a thought. If there's not enough majority into this then it's definitely not worth it.

Thats because not everyone records music, and as for the reviews being weak in the songwriting forum its not like its easy to do a full on critique. You probaly wouldn't get many people who would full on critique anyway.
