Male / Female

I don't think this has been mentioned, sorry if it has, but would it be possible to make it so that Members have an emoticon, or anything, in their profile showing if they are male or female? It would cause a lot less confusion.

I realise that it probably isn't possible, but just wondering.

Raine 06-11-2006 01:46 PM

Yeah cause a lot of people here seem to think I'm a guy.
Icons of some sort could help

. . .
Peace

Reznorslave 06-11-2006 01:47 PM

Maybe add it into the profile (such as location, post count, etc.)?

swim 06-11-2006 01:49 PM

All these suggestions have been made before and honestly I rather them leave it the way it is then try to change and fuck stuff up. Because a lot of people on this forum know each other relatively well. If it's such a huge concern of yours put it in your sig. btw im a girl.

Barnard17 06-11-2006 04:20 PM

"a lot of people on this forum know each other relatively well" so we should ignore the new guy?

Most forums you can choose male, female or neither. Why not here? Many members surprise me with their gender, for someone new to the site it must be even more confusing. Give people the option, if you personally don't want to declare then don't.

judas_priest 06-11-2006 04:31 PM

neither? lol

yeah most people seemed to think I was a guy.

jr. 06-11-2006 05:00 PM

I'm a 21 year old female.

riseagainstrocks 06-11-2006 05:43 PM

Why does it matter? if you want to know ask.

jr. 06-11-2006 06:14 PM

Ok. I'm really 23.

Uglycasanova 06-11-2006 06:20 PM

I think it would be helpful because I wouldn't want people to get the wrong idea if in the middle of a conversation I asked for gender specifications

MURDER JUNKIE 06-11-2006 10:11 PM

yeah like I totally tried to cyber with Adidasss thinking he was a girl, boy is my face red :o:

mosesandtherubberducky 06-11-2006 10:16 PM

I'm both.

Just to clear that up ya know?

Yeah, seriously. I think its kind of pointless too.

explosions-in-my-pants 06-13-2006 08:20 AM

a pedofiles dream is seeing pictures in the member pic gal, and knowing that most of the boys and some girls here are underage... So why does knowing peoples 'sex' matter? a pedofile likes youngin's. we all kind of share that and most personal stuff on the forum so why not just have it there for everyone to see.

LukeM_UK 06-13-2006 09:44 AM

FAB idea!!!

^ Woah, hold on... - Why do you have to assume that it's a paedophile's dream to know the gender of members. Unsurprisingly, that never entered my mind. I'm normal.
No offence, but in my opinion, the only people who would think about such a thing must be paedophiles themselves.

Anyway, I think an icon with male/female is an excellent idea. I'm always mixing people up between male and female. And when I'm talking about one person with someone else I might refer to them as 'he', when in fact they're a 'she'. It's very confusing. Also, people knowing the gender of each other will be able to talk about things without offending each other. It's up to the person whether they choose to show people what gender they are, and how old they are. Please, can someone consider this??

Alo 06-13-2006 10:00 AM

Mhhh, good one, every forum I've been too has one, mostly next to the display name.
But it doesn't always work, people still think I'm a guy.

i don't think that.. i think those types of people care about the sex of the person and the age more important.. why because thats why there called pedophiles.. cause they go after the youngin's..

sleepy jack 06-13-2006 11:46 AM

^Would cyber stalkers be a more appropriate term then?

1. You realize people would change it to the opposite gender for kicks?
2. I don't know anyone that would get super offended if you mixed their gender.
3. I still think its completely uneeded.

It's a joke. Stop trying to argue with me, go and have some strangers baby or something.
