Creative Forum

Given how successful the Song writing forum is I was thinking why not go the whole way & have a creative forum where people can post artwork , photography , creative writing and that sort of thing.

I could see it working , there are a lot of talented people on this forum.

littleknowitall 05-27-2006 09:41 AM

im down with that, i'll even post in this one.

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 05-27-2006 11:41 AM

I could see that being fun and interesting. I'd probably post in it every so often too.

swim 05-27-2006 11:49 AM

I like this idea.

riseagainstrocks 05-27-2006 12:42 PM

This site is called MusicBanter

therefore our threads are about Music. Hell if I had my way, the Lounge wouldn't exist. The songwriting forum is up because it directly relates to music. There are plenty of other forums for art. And if you want to post it here, put it the Lounge or the Games/Spam sub-forum.

The way you spoke in this msg, sounds like your the mod with all the say.

i think its a good idea.. I know this is about msuic.. but still music is a artform, so why not bring in a little of other type of art areas... gives us something to do when not many people are posting in the music forums.. plus it can bring new people in.

littleknowitall 05-27-2006 01:53 PM

aside from what eimp said, then make it a subforum in the lounge, it would work well, why not. give the people what they want!

Agreed, thats pretty much what I was gonna say..

littleknowitall 05-27-2006 02:34 PM

(just a request)

I'm gonna disagree.
First and foremost, yes this is a music forum, but the attached non music forums seem to attract new members and help keep the current members posting here on MusicBanter.
The 'Arcade' being the case in point.

I really can't see what harm a 'Creative Forum' can cause. After all, quite a few of the members who post here may have initially been attracted by the 'Songwriting' forum, which I agree is music related, but without it would the likes of hobojesus, DRMO, Crow etc. choose to stay?
I'm sure a 'Creative Forum' would prove popular among those members just mentioned, amongst others.
It sounds like a good idea and at least should be given a try.

thank god a od on our side. there should be a general forum vote, somebody make a poll already.

What if I drew a picture of a musician?

I have a good one I did of SRV, probably 10 years ago, in conte crayon. But, it's matted and framed and hanging in my sister-in-law's living room. She said I'd have to shoot her first to get it back.

I'm sure you can find a creative arts forum on the net somewhere that you can join. I don't think we should sit here and add every little single forum. It would make this site more of a general forum then a music forum.

swim 05-27-2006 03:04 PM

It's not like you can stop it. Whether we get our own forum or just a huge thread people will post their art.

littleknowitall 05-27-2006 03:05 PM

then if the mods cant make the effort ill get drawing, lets make a thread.

swim 05-27-2006 03:07 PM

I will once I make something massive in paint.

littleknowitall 05-27-2006 03:08 PM

good:) i'll have to buy a scanner or something, i got a big a1 painting i did for gcse art, soon as i get it back i'll take a photo and post that too..
it's quie nice
its actually half pastel, but yeah.

Laces Out Dan! 05-27-2006 03:13 PM

I dont think its that necessary..If people wanna post things not about music...thats what the lounge is for

Agreed, I don't think there should be too many music unrelated forums added...unless it was a good idea...this one is.
If the people want it...let em' have it.

Personally I don't care either way, but if it improves MB and proves popular...it's all good. :)

jr. 05-27-2006 03:23 PM

Well, I think, the people here are familiar with one another, maybe even consider some other posters here friends, albeit online friends. They simply want to share their talents with people who they like, as opposed to going to another forum, where they don't know anyone, just to post their artwork.

It's a little community here, and a person looking at someone's artwork knows about the artist, and maybe the piece will convey a more feeling, or be understood a bit better, simply because the artist is a 'familiar' person.

Just my opinion.

Well that makes sense..k, heres my new thought on this. Stick with the thread for now, if it eventually gets really popular (and not just the same couple of people over and over again) then re-suggest for a forum.

littleknowitall 05-27-2006 03:48 PM

right, jr make a thead!

IamAlejo 05-28-2006 05:01 PM

Make a thread in the lounge. If it gets enough attention (and by that i mean artwork, not just posts) then i'll sticky it, and if even more than expected a seperate forum will be considered.
