Greater control over threads for their authors....
I think Musicbanter should introduce a system where if you are the author of a thread, you should be able control it.
For example, if you feel that people are spoiling your thread by filling it with spam, you could delete messages which you consider to be 'off topic'. And I think you should be able to lock your own threads if people start arguing and getting out-of-hand in them. Your opinions, please.... |
I agree with this, especially after what happened to my DT thread.
|
^ It seems sensible, doesn't it?!
What was your 'DT' thread? |
My Dream Theater thread. Things got a bit nasty between fans and people who kept slagging the band off, and the whole thread was deleted by a mod.
|
^ I think it should have been your choice to delete your thread. I have seen the Dream Theater thread. I didn't know that it was yours, or that it had been deleted. You obviously thought that it was a suitable thread topic, and I think it should have been up to you to choose what to do with it.
But, if another user who obviously doesn't use Musicbanter very often anymore (and therefore won't be able to do anything to stop such 'flame wars' in their own threads) - THEN moderators should take the decision to delete the thread themselves. - |
Yeah, I agree
|
I'm sure if you PM'd a mod asking them to delete posts you found didn't contribute in a positive way to a thread you made, they would be more than happy to help.
You could always report a bad post. After all that's what it's there for. |
^ In that situation though, a moderator might not think that certain posts you report are as bad as you think they are, and therefore might not delete them.

Their role is to be neutral. Can you imagine certain members on here being fair with people they just didn't like. Posts would be deleted for no real good reasons other than personal differences. Imagine the moaning that would cause. |

You might not do that Luke, but I can imagine several who would:)
Ya just have to consider some threads unlucky. |
Thats an awful idea, some people would abuse it. Besides, the mods do a fine job as is.

I agree as well because all the threads I make are always getting full of spam from people who hate the topic and I think that you should be able to delete those messages they put on.

Threads digress, if you can't foresee that people will be deleting posts that don't seek to further their own agenda well then I don't think you'll get why they don't let you do that. Report things, point them out, if its truely spam it will get deleted or the thread will be locked. |

And I think it's a bit daft when you ask one person a question, then 30-odd other people post crappy messages after yours. And you're then left searching through ten or eleven pages to find the reply you wanted. That really pisses me off. Quote:

A little off topic here, but can we have it so Search Results include words of 3 letters?
Because often theres a band that has at least one 3 letter word and we can't find if somethings already been done on them, because the search doesn't do 3 letter words. |
