yeah right man, you listen to bits and pieces of anything, but you're hardly as diverse as say hookers is, and you cannot deny the fact that your major music interest is and always will be punk, and i thought the connection i made about mods and the type of music they listen to ( thus the forums they mainly hang out in and the people they know ) was very insightful, allnightdinah was made mod because you really respect him, why? because he knows a shitload about punk, nevermind the fact that a mod is supposed to go arround the entire forum ,aaaaannd the much dreaded lounge, and half the people here had no idea who or what he is ( i just found out that he's a guy ).....that combined with perfection being made a mod ( which was completely out of the blue and absolutely noone supports the decision apart form those who suggested him ) really ticked me off, and i'm not the only one, and it clearly shows the way mods are made, by other mods, perpetuating the little elite circle.....

am i right or what?

I think your attack on fenixpunk is really out of line. Who cares who is more diverse, this isn't some competition. allnightdinah now demoded, had good potential, it didn't work out and now we've corrected our mistake. Big deal. The staff does come together and discuss new prospects. We do not promote based on pure friendships.

I dont think I was aware that AND was becoming a mod untill after he became one. We both are on another forum, one that is moderated very firmly and my respect for him is his way of thinking and his stand against certain issues, not his music collection.

what attack on fenix? i have no problems with the guy whatsoever, and think he's a fine mod, but i am positive that allnightdinah was made a mod because of his suggestion, which supports my theory about the recent mod nominations, who suggested perfection? hmmm......i'm pretty damn sure it wasn't any of us, and if i'd have to think really hard, i would say it was riseagainst......right? i thought so.....

Actually it was my independent decision and I'll stand by it. Besides that choice everyone else promoted is talked about between the staff and I see nothing wrong with how we come to our conclusions.

If the persons interests are an issue promote local mods rather than relying upon an entirely global basis.

I agree, age doesn't mean anything and I realize this is a music forum but as long as the person is checking the music forums and making sure its all on topic, music knowledge isn't required at all.

I think thats stupid because just by that its kind of obvious you don't know them, AITA posts alot in rock and metal and general music just as much (maybe more) then in hardcore and emo. Thrice isn't a mod anymore, nor is all nite dinah. Perfection listens to hardcore/emo/punk/metal which are the most active boards and rise listens to a shiz load of stuff and considering the fact they're doing a fine job of modding its ok, i really don't think we need to elect some purely because they listen to *insert obscure non rock related genre here* because its (usually) barely an active forum. Just my two cents though.

I've been to other forums and this one has a really involved administrating team, not to mention it seems open to criticism and is trying to make things better which is a very good thing in my useless opinion.

Fenixpunk 01-26-2006 01:17 PM

i suggested AND because of the way the guy thinks, i didnt pull any strings to make him a mod. Ive suggested a few people and point out why i think they should be a mod, doesnt have anything to do with friendships, age, or how long someone has been a member of this forum. I also dont see a problem with PTS becoming a mod. Everyone here seemed to like the kid before, now that hes a mod everyones jumping on his back. Give the kid a chance before you start slinging dirt at him. He may surprise you and be a damn good mod. It seems like everytime new mods are appointed there are those who complain about who was chosen and its usually the same handfull of people everytime. It looks like alot like a case of envy if you ask me (not that anybody would openly admit to it).
