1 More Sticky For All.
 

I was thinking we should have a history sticky for each of the music forums.

It could be good in helping people understand the history of that style better.
We all debate where things came from and who pioneered what, so I was thinking if we lay down some cold hard facts about our musics history then people could learn a little more and have a better understanding before they go diving into the threads with a head of ego. Particularly new people, who may not know how their own knowledge weighs up against the knowledge of people who post here regularly.

It could help slow down fights and things also. If someone starts something we could refer them to the history and save ourselves the trouble of making pages and pages of wasted space and effort in an attempt to explain a point.

This would work particularly well for the punk forum and rock forum where people like misfits and boo boo are constantly explaining origins, correctly, to new people who expect reassurance.

Now, about obtaining correct history facts. I suggest starting off with a mod or whoever creates the sticky, to paste a broad article outlining the history. This opening article could come from trusted sources such as Wikipedia. Then, those who would like to add extra information, can do so.

The emo forum has one but i think someone should make one from these forums just because that way were not ripping all of them off.

I was thinking we make it only trusted posters can do it too.
So we don't get noobs coming along going "slipknot created metal fyi"

Not a 200 post minimum i mean i dont think expletive deleted has 200 posts but he could easily do emo and probaly extremely well.

Maybe a user can just post it and a mod can decide wether to sticky it or delete it?

I think it's a decent idea. Here's a tentative writing team

metal- misfitspunk and/or riseagainstrocks
emo/hXc-zealious, frost, all nite dinah, riseagainstrocks, alejo, and/or myself
punk- myself, fenix, all nite dinah, jesus, gentleman johnny and/or misfits
indie- ledzep, myself, and/or indieelectronica
ska/reggae- all nite dinah, myself, and/or soundgardener
country/jazz & blues/classical- Big 3
rap- gregb, myself, hype 8, and/or Growth and Development
rock- hardest one, needs volunteers

I would prefer not to be the main writer for all the ones i'm listed under except maybe the indie one. I can send PMs, see who (if any) is interested. Still, people should probably volunteer to write. Otherwise, forget about it. Do something better with our time.

I can do it with jesus's help.
We IM frequentlt enough it would be easy for just the two of us to do it.

I am sure people would willingly contribute items of use to the threads.
I'd happily contribute to the rocka area, no doubt boo boo would do it, and mayb even the big3 who is pretty clued up.
