Thumbs up Cam Get'm - Nothing to Flex

"Uprising rapper/producer Cam Get’m shows his musical chops in his newest project titled Nothing to Flex. The self-produced, self-written project is 10 tracks deep and showcases his energetic flow and knack for storytelling.
“Nothing To Flex” is the opening track and it has a pop-dance groove with lush synths and sees Cam delivering a fast-paced performance showcasing his lyrical proficiency. It’s quite a solid way to set the tone with much gusto and energy. “Hiatus” has a cinematic soundscape with a tinge of rock and hip-hop and is underpinned by Cam’s passionate flow and graphic lyrical display. Here, he talks about social perception, self-belief and his own take is just to be true to oneself at all times. “Daydreaming at Night” is a sombre and dark track that dwells on chasing goals and the concept of staying focused on one’s purpose regardless of the distractions that may beset you on all sides. He delivers a fiery performance and laces his expressive flow with a touch of subtle melodies and the use of the double time cadence gives it a extra emotional punch.

“Atypical” is a display of lyrical prowess and Cam doesn’t hold back with his vibrant flow and off-kilter lyrics that remind us that he is not conforming to anyone’s standards. “Pride Cometh” has a dark pop aesthetic that fits Cam’s insightful bars that dwell on ego and self-determination while “Bagsurfing” has a carefree and playful vibe and we get to see the rapper’s daily activities as he lives to seize the day and do what works for him. “Hacky Sack” starts with a lush bell-like synth and mid-tempo groove that rises as the dark strings come into play. Cam once again gives us another dive into being self-reliant in the face of life’s struggles. “Gone with the Time” has a bright pop synth and punchy drums and it’s hard to box the sound in. Cam knows the assignment and easily flows over the beat with much gusto and engaging lyrics that dive into making use of one’s time effectively.

The project closes out with “Problems” and “**** My Boss”, the former is a rich guitar-riff-driven track underpinned by a raging Cam who pours his frustrations on wax while the latter is a hilarious track that sees him having sexual feelings for his supervisor but at the same time, he doesn’t want to lose his job. It’s quite ironic but funny as we get to see Cam’s playful and youthful side on the final track. At just 28 min 25 sec long, Nothing to Flex, gets the job done and gives listeners something different from the norm. "
