Link in the image. Your Old Droog - PACKS One of the earlier releases of the year that I can't forget about. Absolutely loved this album at the time and it's never left my mind when thinking about the best releases of the year. Great features, beats and an old school boom-bap feel that is oxymoronically refreshing. Won't blow your mind, but it will probably make you feel like ten men ready to bang out some fools.

Link in the image. Chelsea Wolfe - Hiss Spun The queen of gothic rock returns with arguably her best release so far. Stunningly ethereal, sprawling whirls of chaos and that voice. Just a pleasure. It's hard to imagine this album could be topped, but I would have said that about her previous release. This probably would have placed higher if I had listened to it more, but I have to factor that in.

Link in the image. Billie Eilish - don't smile at me Okay so she was 15 when she recorded this album. Feeling insignificant and bereft of achievement? Spoiler for :
As for the album itself, it's rather obvious that she's super young and the lyrics are kinda lame. But there are some tracks on here that are simply great. Nice production, poppy choruses and something uniquely childish that I rather like.

Link in the image. Scallops Hotel - Over the Carnage Rose a Voice Prophetic This album is so fucking chilled out and cool that it's basically life. Great jazzy and cloudy production, nice lyrics/flow, some big features and just a tasty bite of abstract Hip Hop. Scallops Hotel is easily the best project Milo is involved with because of how weird they can get, and it doesn't take itself too seriously. If you like jazz rap, cloud rap, abstract rap etc. hop on this sheeiz.

Link in the image. Metá Metá - Gira (Trilha Sonora Original do Espetáculo do Grupo Corpo) Been a fan of these guys for a while, starting from their self-titled EP released in 2015. Their music is probably best described as experimental jazz fusion, with a samba influence. From my memory, this album probably has their most Brazilian sound in fact. The closing three tracks on the album are absolutely phenomenal in my opinion. A complete whirlwind.

Link in the image. Charli XCX - Pop 2 I've been an avid Charli stan for several years now. I always liked her singles when she came to prominence in the early 2010's, but my interest in her music increased dramatically with the release of Vroom Vroom. She was probably the first mainstream artist to fully engorge herself in the Bubblegum Bass/PC Music arena - and it was fantastic. And following on from her pretty decent mixtape last year, Pop 2 delves even more into the weird world of Bubblegum Bass and futuristic/wacky pop. The only downside to this album is some of the features. Like, a few are legit trash. But other than that it's just quirky pop heaven.

Link in the image. BROCKHAMPTON - SATURATION III This shit right here is responsible for cementing "too many cooks" as a logical fallacy. Damn son. It just goes and goes. Fantastic beats, great lyricism and more personality than most Hip Hop collectives/artists can produce in an entire career. I doubt there's anyone on here who I would expect to like this that hasn't heard it. But if you ain't, just do it.

Link in the image. Iglooghost - Neō Wax Bloom Been a fan of this dude for a while now. Chinese Nü Yr and Little Grids were quite good, but they were clearly incomplete. The ideas were there, but they lacked the execution and a real sense of direction. This - however - is a masterful album. It has a structure, feels more layered and complex. It takes its time getting where it needs to and just fucking BOPS. Wonky and glitchy electronic pop eargasm from start to finish.
