First of all, I'm not a Belle and Sebastian fan. I'm pretty indifferent.
No love or hate either way, I just haven't devoted any time to them. I think I've been pretty wrong in doing so to, as Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance is an experimental record and I love seeing how bands grow and evolve. BUT they don't experiment all that much on this record. I went back and listened to the old ones and they only try a few new things here. Some disco influenced tunes, but that's it. There are songs here that sound like...typical Belle and Sebastian songs. So yeah, you can say I was disappointed a bit. Even the experimental songs aren't very different-sounding. The lyrics are still typical Belle and Sebastian, deep at the first listen and hold a deeper and deeper meaning every time you listen to them. Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance scores 7.3/10 Last edited by Slushburgh; 02-04-2015 at 02:09 PM. |
