No Cities To Love - Sleater-Kinney
Sleater-Kinney is back. After ten years. Yay, right? Or not? I have to admit, I was feeling a bit sketchy about it when I heard they were coming back. Comeback albums tend to split fanbases. Examples include but are not limited to:
Angles - The Strokes Comeback albums also tend to be overhyped. Examples include but are not limited to: Angles - The Strokes. Comeback albums also tend to have terrible live performances following them. Examples include but are not limited to: ANGLES - THE STROKES All jokes aside, I was wrong in expecting this album to be less than what I expected. No Cities To Love does a fantastic job of continuing Sleater-Kinney's legacy. Though this album is a dumbed down version of SK's usual sound, it still contains a lot of the signature qualities that have drawn us to love the girls in the past. They've also matured a lot in their lyrics. It's probably the only aspect that wasn't stripped down to the basics. Overall this is a great album, record of the year worthy. No Cities To Love scores 9.7/10 |
