I was thinking, should there not be a multiplier in place for albums that appear on numerous lists?

Say Goofle puts Album A as his second choice, that would earn that album 19 points.
Say myself, Briks, Ninetails and WhateverDude put the Album B on all of our lists but at lower rankings than 2nd, say we ranked it 18th, 12th, 20th and 15th respectively.

Album B would have 16 points. Album A, Goofle voted, and say it was just Goofle that voted it, would have 19 points, would rank higher despite only being mentioned once.
Surely the album that was mentioned four times would be better representative of a Music Banter (as a whole) top 500?

This is a hypothetical. I used everyone hypothetically.

I'm just using this as an excuse to see what everyone claims to be their top 20 albums. I couldn't care less what the outcome is. Just being honest here. I just wanna see what you all like and if you guys can give me a new album to love.

I think the multiplier idea would work. Or at least adding an additional number of points for every list an album appears on. It will be interesting to see how the final results compare to this list http://www.musicbanter.com/general-m...rding-rym.html

Anyway will update with a list soon

And Manky's issue with the goal of 500 is definitely true. I doubt even if we could get to 500 that past maybe a hundred the list would be any good. It'd probably just be a collection of a bunch of albums only mentioned at the tail end of just one of each of our lists. Also, the dude who made the thread is a newb, no offense, so there's no guarantee he/she'll be around when it's time to tally the scores. If so there needs to be others willing to pick up the slack, specially since in a few months people are probably going to forget it even needs to be done. Also a good reason to sticky it so it doesn't get lost somewhere around page ten. There's obviously enough interest to justify that.

I did something like this on another forum years ago and for tabulating I thought it was more important how many lists an album appeared on rather than the position, which is why I would give every album an additional x amount of points for each list it was on.

Come on people lets vote "Silver Side Up" as the numero uno album, and say adios to Los SeñorBatinos.

Did you make that emoticon up or does that just exist for no apparent reason?
