Snot - Get Some (1997)
Snot - Get Some (1997)
Track List:
It was the summer of 1998, and I found myself at Ozzfest, grooving to a sound I couldn't describe. It was funky, but it was metal, as well as punk. A mix of musical styles I had yet to discover. If there is one best method of discovering new musical styles, being at one of the biggest concert venues is certainly a good way to go. Snot delivered the goods, and then some. Riding on the wave of their first album (which disappointed in sales at first release in 1997), Snot was fast becoming one of the best acts of the year. It wasn't long after me seeing them live that I ran to the nearest record store to purchase it. The playful nature, combined with absolutely brilliant guitar work, and Lynn Straits vocals were enough to make me wear this album out for years to come. I love how they seamlessly go from full Metal attack to Lounge Lizardry without batting an eye. From the face melting "Joy Ride" to the relaxing, and almost dreamlike quality of "Get Some Keez", this album keeps coming at you with an attitude. Lynn Strait (singer) died shortly after I saw these incredible musicians, and not surprisingly, the band really never recovered from the tragedy. It is a sad thing to say that the exact chemistry of this band may never be realized again in the history of music. Rating: 9.5/10 I love every track on this album, but of course I do have a couple favorites: Spoiler for Favorite Tracks:

I have to give a special mention to Mr Brett.
It's entirely possible that the nucleus of System Of A Down came from this. Serj was on Straight Up, and had been in the same scene for a few years before their debut. Just a hunch.

I would go through em all, but I usually don't have a lot of time. There are quite a few shorter reviews of albums here with far less in-depth analysis, and I'm not really sure why you picked mine to give your blessing. But yeah. Thanks.
