I hear Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band compared to Pet Sounds frequently, but for some reason, Revolver is never mentioned. I feel it's a better comparison, as they were released in the same year. Sgt. Pepper's was recorded after The Beatles had had a chance to digest Pet Sounds, and McCartney has stated it as a major influence. Revolver was also slightly influenced by Pet Sounds. but not to the extent of Pepper.
I prefer Pet Sounds, as all the songs have more lyrical depth, and you can almost trace a story throughout the album (with the exception of Sloop John B, which was included for commercial reasons). Revolver is more of a casual listen; I've often put it on random. They are very different albums, however. I hope the poll works. My device has been stubborn lately.
