Talking Icona Pop - This is

Icona Pop
- This is "A feel good album lacking in some depth"

That's all it needs to be.

I'm sure nearly everyone has heard Icona Pop's single "I love it" on the radio. Most I've talked to either take it or leave it. The lyrics are simple, silly, and make no real sense. For some, this single is obnoxious and holds no depth. This may be true, but if you want something to just feel good and sing to; I don't care.....

"I love it"

This is a summer time groove song that makes me just want to move, it doesn't need depth. It's what made me listen to the rest of the album.

On the whole I give the album a solid B

The first song is a little less upbeat but still has a good catchy rhythm that can get stuck in your head. Not the strongest opening to and album but not the weakest.

I've already expressed my opinion on the second song on the album "I love it"

"We got the world" is amazing. Instant good mood, definitely lyrics for a younger audience. Positive and upbeat.

"Downtown" is okay. This isn't the strongest song, once again there is an extremely good beat as expected for electronic music. The lyrics are extremely sexual but in an innocent way. I Love it when you kiss me downtown ;] The song is good in a novelty way.

"Ready for the Weekend" is great minus the ending. The high pitched voice that seemingly goes on forever is a bit annoying for my taste.

"Wanna B with Somebody" is my personnel favorite. I've recently gone through a big break up with a long time boyfriend. I haven't been feeling the relationship for over a year now and this song speaks volumes for how I feel in a simplistic manner. Biased, but "Wanna B with Somebody" is an incredible song in a clean, simple, way that many can understand.

"Good For You". Wow. Instant day brightener. Once again I may be a little biased because of my resent situation but F*** YEAH. New boyfriend, bad time dealing with the ex - instant pick me up. Icona Pop-just manages that groove. It feels like summer all the time even with these 5 feet of snow out my window. I just want to go dance and sing in the streets.....Maybe I'll just settle with my bedroom for now.

I feel the same about "Manners" as the above 2. DANCE

"Top Rated" is not my favorite. The message is great but I feel that the beat is lacking a bit after the last 3 songs. Maybe it's because the last three songs were so hype that "Top Rated" is a bit of a come down.

"Lovers to Friends". eh. Nothing real special, more of a fan of the verse tan the chorus.

"My party" is a remix of the popular 1965 song "It's my Party and I'll cry if I want to". Slow groove, good rhythm, I hate the original song. Not a fan of a remix. Smiler's rap is the one shining part of this song that makes me not want to cry. Don't remix this 1965 song. It was terrible then, it's terrible now.

"Nights like this" is a good song. That's it.

The album ends on "Flashback" although this song keeps my attention and makes me nod my head a bit, the album could have ended stronger. It's definitely front packed, which is a big pet peeve of mine, but not the worst. The later songs in the album are still valuable.

Altogether I give this album a 7 out of 10
