The Arkells Michigan Left
It has been three years since the Arkells have brought out their original Jackson Square album a name taken from a downtown mall located in the city of Hamilton.
Perhaps it was the non stop touring that did not allow them to get back into the studio, but every indication looks like it was well worth the wait. The constant playing together has tightened up the band so they just seem to be breezing through the never ending list of catchy pop tunes. They are all here in glorious spender from Michigan Left supported by a disjointed drum sequence and peppy organ riff. The songs surround the band's lives talking about book clubs and endless road trips on Saturday nights down well known highways! There is a sudden maturity in the song writing on this album that becomes inescapable as you listen to the entire album. The band has actually captured the fun and excitement through Michigan Left that one experiences at their live shows! Where U Goin is drenched with the signature style of Hall and Oates which is anything, but bad. In the long run if the fans have to wait yet another three years for the band's next album it won't be the worst thing that could happen because this is one album one could listen to for a few years in a row. |

Absolutely love the Arkells! Both of their albums are amazing, and when seeing them live they just posses this energy that just makes you want to dance! I am with you in saying that waiting three years for another album would be much worth the wait if it is anything like Michigan Left!

Wow thank you for your response! I actually expected out of 123 reads someone would have made a comment earlier. I saw them in Hamilton at the convention center last year and they were just amazing. We have had the pleasure of seeing the Arkells about 5 times.

You live in Ohio. We did a road trip which included the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and Oasis with Kasabian Cyuahuga Fall (wrong spelling). I think that the easiest way to see the Arkells would be to take the ferry from Sandusky to Ontario then drive to a venue where they are playing. Watch their web site for up coming shows. Since they only have out two albums you can be assured they will play most of the songs available. Until then it's Jackson Square and Michigan Left for your listening pleasure.

I've never seen them live which is surprising since I go to school in Hamilton and they're there all the time (of course). A friend of mine went to school with them and my mom knows Max Kerman's mom, lol. |

Ha it's high time you set out and saw this band live. Perhaps Mom can talk to Mom and get you on the guest list! |
