No. 9

Hop Along - Get Disowned

Most of the hipster kids I know seem to be aware of this album, but not many more. Either way, I absolutely love it. Not often do I get heavily into an emo/folk-punk record, probably because I am not usually an emotional person, but this did just that. It's not an album I can describe in great detail as it is pretty simplistic in every regard, but I feel like the emotions transcend that simplicity and encapsulate you.

No. 8

Acid Mothers Temple & the Melting Paraiso U.F.O. - Son of a Bitches Brew

This album (as you have probably guessed from the title) is an interpretation of some of Miles Davis' classic songs. The twist you get here is that they are performed in the style of Psychedelic Rock, as opposed to more traditional forms. It's noisy, acid tinged, jazzy and just fucking great. I will admit that I don't particularly make a connection/comparison with the original material as I am not 100% familiar with everything Miles put out, but I feel as though he would co-sign this album without hesitation.

Oh damn, I didn't realize she put something new out! How do you think it compares to Freshman Year?

Get Disowned is better, but it's a good album.

I've heard Miles Davis originally did Bitches Brew and his other Fusion experiments to create Jazz that could be considered in the same realm as Jimi Hendrix and similar Rock groups, so that sounds like a solid (as well as intriguing) project, and one that I will be checking out. Thanks!

And You know, I'd always heard the name Acid Mothers Temple and thought "I need to listen to those."

Death Grips - The Money Store

As you guys probably already knew, I am a huge Death Grips fan. I don't buy into the idea that they are truly creating something new, that they are pushing barriers or that they are just so FUCKING EXPERIMENTAL!!!!! I just really like their music. Their debut, Exmilitary, is an album that has cooled on me quite a lot since I first started listening to it and I am at the point where I like around half of the tracks a lot and just don't care for the other half. However, with The Money Store, Death Grips have created an album that I can quite happily listen to from start to finish with no complaints whatsoever. There's a larger variety of beats (which is my issue with No Love Deep Web) and more changes in mood/direction. Some of the best noisy Hip Hop of all time has been made by this band, I hope they don't become a joke.

Divorce - Divorce

This is another album I discovered through bob's RYM list, and he may have posted about it on here as well. It's one of those albums that if you don't truly crave to listen to, it probably won't have any impact whatsoever. It's so noisy, ear cutting, violent and did I mention that it's noisy? Sweet nectar to my bloody ears, moreish gore.
