Pixies discography review with individual song ratings
The enigma that is the Pixies. They are like the Beatles if the Beatles stopped at Beatles For Sale or maybe Rubber Soul. Pixies just did what they did at the start, apart from slightly different turns in genre. Catchy loud rock songs are all well and good, but they could of given more. Also I don't feel the complexity of the lyrics matched the simplicity of the music. Just a weird contrast. Nonetheless, one of the greatest Indie bands of all time with one of the greatest albums ever made.
Come on Pilgrim Caribou 9/10 Vamos 7/10 Isla De Encanta 7/10 Ed is Dead 7/10 The Holiday Song 7/10 Nimrod's Son 7/10 I've Been Tired 7/10 Levitate Me 10/10 Overall 7/10 Descent. All I gotta say with Levitate Me is....DAT CHORUS. Surfer Rosa Bone Machine 7/10 Break My Body 7/10 Some Against You 7/10 Broken Face 7/10 Gigantic 10/10 River Euphrate 10/10 Where is my Mind 10/10 Cactus 7/10 Tony's theme 7/10 Oh my Golly 7/10 Vamos 7/10 Im Amazed 7/10 Brick is Red 7/10 Overall 8/10 A lot of 7's and thats because the only parts I feel the album turns special is the middle with the monumental line up of gigantic, river euphrates and where is my mind. Doolittle Debaser 10/10 Tame 8/10 Wave of Mutilation 8/10 I Bleed 7/10 Here Comes Your Man 10/10 Dead 10/10 Monkey Gone To Heaven 10/10 Mr Grieves 8/10 Crackity Jones 6/10 La La Love You 10/10 No.13 Baby 8/10 There Goes My Gun 7/10 Hey 10/10 Silver 10/10 Gouge Away 10/10 Overall 10/10 One of the greatest albums or indie albums of all time. Chorus after chorus just plays on your emotions. I don't think I've ever heard an album with better choruses. Any song with 10/10 is a highlight. Bossanova Cecilia Ann 7/10 Rock Music 7/10 Velouria 10/10 Allison 7/10 Is She Wird 7/10 Ana 10/10 All Over the World 7/10 Dig For Fire 10/10 Down to the Well 7/10 The Happening 10/10 Blown Away 7/10 Hang Wire 7/10 Stormy Weather 9/10 Havalina 10/10 Overall 8/10 Most of the album doesn't connect with you but when it does, it really really connects with you and I have listened to a song non stop for weeks. The Happening is the highlight. Trompe Le Monde Meh. overall 6/10. |

These aren't really written reviews which is what this forum is really for, I mean you've barely written 2 sentences about an entire album.
If you want to do this sort of thing I suggest you get a Member's Journal , which is more suited to this sort of thing and write them in there.

k' im totally biased cause i LOVE the pixies but there are some songs that shoulda gotten a higher rating like
Break my body (7/10) That's easily a 9/10 it's one of the most underrated pixies song yet it's one of the songs that define the pixies earlier sound.. full of angst and loathing, it's just so raw.. it's ****in amazing. Nimrod's son(7/10) Are you kidding me? 7/10!? this is a 10 no doubt! it's like a psycho redneck country song.. and the lyrics are so good! Is she weird(7/10) This one is a good review, though i woulda given it an 8, it's not the best pixies song but it's one of my favourites Crackity jones(6/10) ............. i am appalled, APPALLED!! lol this is a 9/10 easy.. Have you ever heard ANY other song where the singer barks like a maniac?? just for that it deserves a 9. U_U I dont mean to be a jerk or anything, but i HIGHLY disagree in some of your reviews.. |
