Metallica - Death Magnetic

Talking about guitar riffs and guitar solos, you name it, they have it. I think this is a big leap from their St. Anger Album.

Death Magnetic is the ninth studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica, released on September 12, 2008 through Warner Bros. Records. It was the band's first album to be produced by Rick Rubin, making this Metallica's first album since 1988's ...And Justice for All that was not produced by Bob Rock. The album received mostly positive reviews upon release, with critics describing it as a return to the musical style of their early albums.
Musically, the album is a radical departure from Metallica's previous album, St. Anger, which featured no guitar solos and a more modern sound. Death Magnetic, on the other hand, features very long, technical guitar solos from both Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield, marking a return to the band's thrash metal roots. The album was also the band's first album released through Warner Bros. Records, although they still remain with Warner Music Group, which also owns their previous label, Elektra Records. Outside of North America, they are distributed through Universal Music Group as they remain signed to Vertigo Records in the UK. The album is also the band's fifth consecutive studio album to debut at number 1 on the Billboard 200 in the U.S., making Metallica the first band ever to do so.

i find your review quite generic and describes nothing about the music

"thrash metal roots" "technical solos"

so um what do you actually think about it?

as for me, I thought St Anger was a leap forward and DM was taking a step back

it's okay, but not great or anything

Yeah, almost sounds plagiarized from some random article.

Well, basically, your review sucks.

Death Magnetic is a good album however, as has been said countless times, the production is abysmal and some of the tracks sound a little formulaic.

Death Magnetic has a lot of problems, and I wouldn't blame production for them either.

They just sound tired and samey. I'm glad they finally decided to make their most thrashy and technical album since AJFA, but how many times have they recorded a song that sounds like "The Day That Never Comes"? Plus, Hetfield just sounds worse and worse with every release.

Oh, yeah, and I think it's about time to give that Unforgiven crap a rest.

Yeah, that pretty much echoes what I think of the album.

I have no shame in admitting that I once thought Metallica to be pretty ****ing great - and they were. But their ship has long sailed and I really don't want to see any more releases. It's just going to get progressively more embarrassing.

anyone here heard the EP Beyond Magnetic?

i think it's slightly better than the LP cos the songs are more diverse

Best album they've done in 20 years. Sure, that's like being the prettiest Denny's waitress, but still....
