Honestly I haven't even heard the record. I stopped buying Metallica after purchasing the Black album. I picked it up the day it went on sale and was amazed how much their sound had changed. I'm not gonna nitpick it, because they obviously found a formula that works for sales. I think alot of the change was due to them aging. You can't play break neck speed your entire career, it happens to the best of us. Metallica typically plays 3 hour sets live and they need to throw in some slower more ballad type songs, to stay in shape for their large scale tours i'm assuming.

Basically, while you're entitled to your opinion and expected to share it, people will dismiss you and be quick to judge you if you are dismissive of them and make it seem as though you believe that you are correct and everyone else is wrong. I love the first four Metallica albums, I like The Black Album, I'm hot and cold on Load and Reload, I hate St. Anger and I actually rather like Death Magentic, even if does seem like a rehash of their roots. It's easy to have a more positive opinion when you stop comparing a new release to the bands heyday more than twenty years previous. Metallica are never, ever going to be that band again and personally I can't see the point in even comparing it to their first three or four albums. |

I think all the Metallica albums are either classic, very good or accomplished. The only poor albums I think they did are ReLoad and parts of St.Anger and I'm not even a Metallica fan! I think Death Magnetic was a real return to form.
