Nah. It was good until all the singles become overplayed and most of the rest were never more than okay in the first place. The only song on there that doesn't bore me these days is "The Unforgiven". I actually like Load and Reload more than the Black Album. Arena rock dressed up as shallow alternative rock they may be, but well, I guess just being better than the Black album is all I can really say about them.

The Black Album is bad. It's catchy filler made for selling to a new, more mainstream audience.

There's nothing wrong with adding pop elements to heavy metal (Slayer and Megadeth pulled it off) if it's done in the right way, but The Black Album just sounds like a ****ty sellout album.

....and it worked, they became one of the biggest bands in the world, which was the ultimate goal of the band right from their early days.

Did you miss half the thread?

The riffs are dull, the drums were bland, Hetfield's vocals are horrendous, and the production is ass. The singles are decent at best, but once they got radioplay they were just plain overplayed.

We're talking about quality, not quantity of fans or record sales.

The Black Album isn't the worst they've done, because when I think of ReLoad and St. Anger, I think of a band that is on par with Limp Bizkit/Disturbed/Linkin Park (maybe that's why rubber ducky likes them so much).

Metallica is a joke running for almost 25 years now.
