well, i love it

i wouldn't really say it's a return to their "prog" roots, yes, the songs may be lengthier, but they're still quite straightforward, and aren't very complex

the concept is okay, i still prefer the oblique stuff of the earlier days, this concept is perhaps too "concrete"?

i like it mostly because it's easily their most "metallic" album so far

Prog as become such a generalized term, it really depends on your personal definition of the genre; however, I will disagree with you that the songs are straightforward. The key tracks like "Clockwork Angels," "The Anarchist," and most notably "Headlong Flight" are anything but straightforward. They are filled with unexpected twists and turns, and I consider them quite complex.

the word I was looking for is "based on classical motifs"
